This is freaky – and it sure isn’t science. The planet savers at the IPCC summit in Durban – attended by Climate Change Minister Greg Combet – are working on a document that reads in part like the Bible of a new green faith:

Rights of mother earth
74. Ensure respect for the intrinsic laws of nature.
75. The recognition and defence of the rights of Mother Earth to ensure harmony
between humanity and nature, and that their will be no commodification of the functions of
nature, therefore no carbon market will be developed with that purpose.

Who is “Mother Earth”? What are the “intrinsic laws of nature” and who passed them? Why do they need “respect”? What is the “harmony” between “humanity and nature”? Discuss using, say, smallpox as an example. Define “commodification of the functions of nature”. Explain using the example of dams and farms.

And tell us who wrote this garbage and how they go through the door.

Lord Christopher Monckton reads through the rest.

Here’s his summary, in an important article that should be read in full:

The contents of this document, turgidly drafted with all the UN’s skill at what the former head of its documentation center used to call “transparent impenetrability”, are not just off the wall – they are lunatic.

Main points:

Ø A new International Climate Court will have the power to compel Western nations to pay ever-larger sums to third-world countries in the name of making reparation for supposed “climate debt”. The Court will have no power over third-world countries. Here and throughout the draft, the West is the sole target. “The process” is now irredeemably anti-Western.

Ø “Rights of Mother Earth”: The draft, which seems to have been written by feeble-minded green activists and environmental extremists…

Ø “Right to survive”: The draft childishly asserts that “The rights of some Parties to survive are threatened by the adverse impacts of climate change, including sea level rise.” At 2 inches per century, according to eight years’ data from the Envisat satellite? Oh, come off it! The Jason 2 satellite, the new kid on the block, shows that sea-level has actually dropped over the past three years.

Ø War and the maintenance of defence forces and equipment are to cease – just like that – because they contribute to climate change…

Ø A new global temperature target will aim, Canute-like, to limit “global warming” to as little as 1 C° above pre-industrial levels. Since temperature is already 3 C° above those levels, what is in effect being proposed is a 2 C° cut in today’s temperatures. This would take us halfway back towards the last Ice Age, and would kill hundreds of millions. Colder is far more dangerous than warmer.

Ø The new CO2 emissions target, for Western countries only, will be a reduction of up to 50% in emissions over the next eight years and of “more than 100%” [these words actually appear in the text] by 2050. So, no motor cars, no coal-fired or gas-fired power stations, no aircraft, no trains. Back to the Stone Age, but without even the right to light a carbon-emitting fire in your caves. Windmills, solar panels and other “renewables” are the only alternatives suggested in the draft. There is no mention of the immediate and rapid expansion of nuclear power worldwide to prevent near-total economic destruction.

Ø The new CO2 concentration target could be as low as 300 ppmv CO2 equivalent (i.e., including all other greenhouse gases as well as CO2 itself). That is a cut of almost half compared with the 560 ppmv CO2 equivalent today. It implies just 210 ppmv of CO2 itself, with 90 ppmv CO2 equivalent from other greenhouse gases. But at 210 ppmv, plants and trees begin to die. CO2 is plant food. They need a lot more of it than 210 ppmv…

Ø The West will pay for everything, because of its “historical responsibility” for causing “global warming”. Third-world countries will not be obliged to pay anything. But it is the UN, not the third-world countries, that will get the money from the West, taking nearly all of it for itself as usual. There is no provision anywhere in the draft for the UN to publish accounts of how it has spent the $100 billion a year the draft demands that the West should stump up from now on.

This – seriously – is the manifesto being worked on by your government and dozens of ones similarly maddened by global warming fervor and green mysticism. The next time someone tells you global warming alarmism is just about “the science”, wave this manifesto in their face.

Simon Deng tells it like it is.

With thanks to Hudson New York

Like you, I came to this conference, The Perils of Global Intolerance to protest this third Durban conference which is an effort based on a set of lies, and organized by nations who are themselves are guilty of the worst kinds of oppression.

Durban III will not help the victims of racism. It will only isolate and target the Jewish state. It is a tool of the enemies of Israel. The UN has lost its way. Its obsession with the Jewish obvious: . For over 50 years, 82% of the UN General Assembly emergency meetings have been about condemning one state – Israel. Hitler could not have been made happier.

Given all the good Israel does in the world, given its democracy and its striving to follow the highest standards of human rights, even in the face of the most brutal, the most fanatic enemies, the Durban Conference is an outrage. All decent people know that.

But friends, I come here today to make a different case. I come with what you might at first think is a radical proposition: I come to tell you that there are peoples who suffer from the UN’s anti-Israelism even more than the Israelis. I belong to one of those people.

By exaggerating Palestinian suffering, and by blaming the Jews for it, the UN has muffled the cries of those who suffer on a far larger scale.

For over fifty years the indigenous black African population of Sudan — Christians and Muslims alike — have been the victims of the brutal, racist Arab Muslim regimes in Khartoum.

In South Sudan, my homeland, Sudan, about four million innocent men, women and children were slaughtered from 1955 to 2005. Seven million were ethnically cleansed, and they became the largest refugee group since World War II.

Everybody at the United Nations is concerned about the so-called Palestinian refugees. They dedicated a separate agency to provide for them; this agency, UNWRA, treats them with a special privilege.

Meanwhile, my people, ethnically cleansed, murdered and enslaved, are relatively ignored. The UN even resisted using the word “slavery” to describe the enslavement of tens of thousands of my people. Why? Because slavery is a crime against humanity, apparently no one committing it wanted to end up before an international court. When Khartoum insisted that the term “abducted people” be substituted for the word “slaves,” the UN, caved to Arab pressure and agreed. Try that in America. Try calling Frederick Douglas an “abducted person.” It is outrageous.

The UN refuses to tell the world the truth about the root causes of Sudan’s conflicts. Take Darfur, for example. Who knows really what is happening in Darfur? It is not a “tribal conflict.” It is a conflict rooted in Arab colonialism, as it has typically been practiced in Africa. In Darfur, a region in the Western Sudan everybody is Muslim. Everybody is Muslim because the Arabs invaded the North of Africa and converted the indigenous people to Islam In the eyes of the Islamists in Khartoum, the Darfuris are not Muslim enough. And they also do not want to be Arabized. They like their own African languages and dress and customs. They resist Arabization. The Arab response is genocide. But nobody tells the truth about Darfur.

In the Nuba Mountains, another region of Sudan, genocide is taking place as I speak. The regime is targeting the black Africans — Muslims and Christians. This happened to the Nuba people before. In the 1990′s hundreds of thousands were murdered; a large number of women were raped; children were abducted and forcibly converted to Islam. Nobody at the UN told the truth about the Nuba Mountains.

Do you see a massive amount of outrage and reports and protests about this coming out of the UN or Human Rights Watch or Amnesty International? Do you hear them condemn Arab anti-black racism?

Look at the pages of the New York Times, or the record of the UN condemnations, What you will find is “Israeli crimes” and Palestinian suffering. My people have been driven off the front pages by the exaggerations of Palestinian suffering. Why? Because what Israel does is portrayed as a Western sin that we are all supposed to address.

The truth is that the West commits a real sin when it abandons us: the actual victims of non-Westerns. Our suffering has become almost taboo.

Let me return to the topic of slavery: while there are issues that divide public opinion, we can all agree that for one man to own another is a sin, and it should be stopped. The Americans tore themselves apart over the issue of slavery.

Chattel slavery, a centuries-long practice in Sudan, was revived as a tool of war in the early ’90s. The Islamist regime in Khartoum declared jihad, or holy war, and thereby legitimized taking slaves as war booty. Arab militias were sent to destroy Southern villages and were encouraged to take African women and children as slaves. We believe that up to 200,000 were kidnapped, brought to the North and sold into slavery.

I am a living proof of this crime against humanity.

I do not like talking about my experience as a slave, but I do it because it is important for the world to know that slavery exists even today.

I was only nine years old when I was made a slave. An Arab neighbor named Abdullahi tricked me into following him to a boat destined to Northern Sudan where he gave me as a gift to his family. For three and a half years I was their slave going through something that no child should ever go through: brutal beatings and humiliations; working around the clock; sleeping on the ground with animals; eating the family’s left-overs. During those three years I was unable to say the word “no.” All I could say was “yes,” “yes,” “yes.”

The United Nations knew about the brutal enslavement of South Sudanese by the Arabs from the early days of the conflict. Human Right Watch issued extensive reports about the issue. These reports gathered dust on UN shelves. It took UNICEF – under pressure from the Jewish –led American Anti-Slavery Group — sixteen years to acknowledge what was happening.

As soon as the Sudanese government and the Arab League pressured UNICEF, the UN agency backtracked, and proceeded to criticize the Non-Governmental Organizations that worked to liberate Sudanese slaves. In 1998, Dr. Gaspar Biro, the courageous UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Sudan who reported on slavery, resigned in protest of the UN’s actions.

My friends, today, tens of thousands of black South Sudanese still serve their masters in the North and the UN is silent about that. It would offend the OIC and the Arab League. So much for “human rights for everybody”.

As a former slave and a victim of the worst sort of racism, allow me to explain why I think calling Israel a racist state is absolutely absurd and immoral.

I have been to Israel five times visiting the Sudanese refugees. Let me tell you how they ended up there. These are Sudanese who fled Arab racism, hoping to find shelter in Egypt. They were wrong. In 2005, the refugees camped outside the offices of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Cairo looking for mercy. Instead, the United Nations closed its doors and left the helpless women and children at the mercy of the ruthless Egyptian security forces who brutally slaughtered at least 26 of them.

After this event the Sudanese realized that Arab racism is the same, whether it is in Khartoum or in Cairo. So they continued looking for a shelter and they found it in Israel. Dodging the bullets of the Egyptian border patrols and walking for punishingly long distances, the refugees’ only hope was to reach Israel’s side of the fence, where they knew they would be safe.

The fact that even Darfuris, who are Muslims, chose Israel above all the other Arab-Muslim states of the area, speaks volumes.. Israel is racist? Israel is against the Muslim world? Ask the thousands of black Muslim Darfuris who found shelter inside the Jewish state.

When I asked the refugees about the treatment they receive in Israel, their response is absolutely the opposite of what the United Nations alleges. They were welcomed and treated like human beings. Compared to the situation in Egypt, they described their lives in Israel as “heaven.” No-one called them “abid” – an Arabic word for slaves often used in Sudan, Egypt and other Arab nations.

Is Israel a racist state? To my people, the people who know racism – the answer is absolutely not. It is a state of people of the colors of the rainbow. Jews themselves come in all colors, even black. I met with beautiful black Ethiopian Jews in Israel. Israel is a state that has taken my own black people in, rescued them, and helped them.

So, yes … my claim may be a radical claim: I claim that the victims who suffer most from the UN’s anti-Israel policy are not just the Israelis but all those people who have to be ignored in order for the UN to tell its big lie against Israel: all those victims of non Western abuse, especially all those victims of Arab and Muslim abuse: women, ethnic minorities, religious minorities, homosexuals, in the Arab and Muslim world. These are the biggest victims of UN Israel hatred.

So far, the Israelis have only been cursed by the UN. But look at the situation of the Copts, the Christians in Iraq, and Nigeria, and Iran, the Hindus and Bahais and Sikhs who suffer from Islamic oppression. We all suffer. We are ignored, we are abandoned so that the big lie against the Jews can go forward.

Before I conclude let me tell you a story that reflects a special connection that the people of South Sudan feel toward Israel. In 2005, I visited one of the refugee camps in South Sudan. I met a twelve year old girl who told me about her dream. In a dream she wanted to go to school to become a doctor, and then, she wanted to visit Israel. I was shocked and numb. How could this refugee girl who spent most of her life in the North know about Israel? When I asked why she wanted to visit Israel, she said: “This is our people.” I was never able to find an answer to my question.

On July 9 of 2011 South Sudan became an independent state. We achieved freedom despite the opposition from the Arab world and despite the United Nations, whose General Secretary, Bi Ki Moon, lobbied for the unity of Sudan. For the South Sudanese, that would mean continuation of oppression, brutalization, demonization, Islamization, Arabization and enslavement.

In a similar manner, the Arabs continue denying Jews their right for sovereignty in their homeland; and the Durban III conference continues denying Israel’s legitimacy.

As a friend of Israel, I salute the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, who had the courage to state publicly that South Sudan embassy in Israel will be built— not in Tel Aviv, but in Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish people.

I also want to assure you that my own new nation, and all of its people, will oppose racist forums like the Durban III. We will oppose it by simply telling the truth.

This originally appeared in a a slightly different form as an address at a conference titled “The Perils of Global Intolerance”, in New York City, September 22, 2011.

By Vojin Joksimovich, Ph.D.

On September the 16th NATO forces, overstepping their UN Security Council (UNSC) mandates, amid tensions on the administrative border between Serbia and the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo, have fired the first shots at bare-handed Kosovo Serbs in the village of Zupce. The Kosovo Serbs have erected barricades, in a life or death situation, to defend themselves against the Muslim Albanian onslaughts which desire to forcefully incorporate northern Kosovo into the US/EU created Republic of Kosovo, an amputated province from the Republic of Serbia. The Albanian police, aided and assisted by NATO’s KFOR, have taken over two border crossings: Jarinje and Brnjak. The Albanian customs officers, aided and abetted by EU’s EULEX mission in Kosovo, have established their control over the border crossings.

UNSC Emergency Session

After debating for hours behind closed doors the UNSC decided to bury its head in the sand. It came out with a timid call for “restraint” by all parties. Russia’s UN ambassador Vitaly Churkin informed the journalists that Russia proposed a brief to-the-point statement that called on “Belgrade, Pristina and all other sides involved to resolve all outstanding problems through dialogue.” Even this benign statement was unacceptable to the Western powers of the US, GB and France despite escalating tensions. Churkin expressed concern that the international peacekeepers appear to be siding with the Albanians. Serbian foreign minister Vuk Jeremic made it clear that the entire EU proposition playing the mediating role in the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade may be put in question. “So this sudden departure from the path of dialogue at the moment when it was beginning to show some promise, in our view, is completely unjustified, unwarranted and very dangerous.”

NATO Statement

NATO’s Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen called the situation “a big setback,” and urged all sides to stay within the framework of dialogue. “Let me be very clear: there can be no turning back. NATO has spent 12 years ensuring stability and security. We will not allow that achievement to be put at risk.” This is a text-book example of Western hypocrisy. NATO has been siding with the Albanians since day 1 in Kosovo in violation of the UNSC Resolution #1244. The so called international community wants Kosovo sovereignty on all of its territory despite the fact that Kosovo Serbs in the north are de-facto already broken away from Albanian-run Kosovo due to parallel institutions and absolute determination not to be harassed by the Albanian criminal gangs in Pristina.

Serbian Kosovo Mayor

On September 16 deputy mayor of Zvecan, Miodrag Acic, visited the UNMIK office in Zvecan to discuss the present crisis. Acic stated that Serbs have clearly defined who they are, born in the Serbian Province of Kosovo and Metohija, not so called Kosovars, with a rich identity of more than 1500 years old and who have a love of their culture, language and traditions. Serbs have survived all of the invasions and occupations which befell them in the last 1500 years. Serbian culture and heritage is all over Kosovo despite the fact that Albanians are trying to destroy it. He pointed out to a lack of toponyms, whose origins could be found in the Albanian language. There are, however, Islamic and Turkish toponyms due to the 500 year occupation. Now the Kosovo Albanians with help from US/NATO, with disproportional use of force, are trying to steal our history, our toponyms, our land, our language and are making the last try to expel of us. Acic pointed out and named international officers who side with the Albanians and disregard international law and use instead the Kanun of Leke Dukagjini, set of traditional Albanian codes.

Acic went on: “The situation of our Serbian brothers in the south is difficult, they are being harassed by the Albanian Police, when they go to the Public institutions the Albanians disregard them, ignore them and insult them, there is no Serbian curriculum in their schools, there are no returns because there is an ongoing intimidation campaign against the Serbs, they are surrounded by Albanians who cut their electricity, the water, the services to make them accepting Kosovo Albanian institutions, under the eyes of NATO, international NGOs that are supposed to defend the human rights as they say, they all were compliances and even worst implementers of the Albanian racist policies.” Indeed who cares about the plight of not yet ethnically cleansed 100,000 plus Kosovo Serbs? Do they care in Washington, Brussels or even Belgrade?

Belgrade (Vichy Serbia) and Kosovo Serbs

In my June 13 Modern Tokyo Times article Vichy Serbia Sends War Hero to his Death, I have explained the term Vichy Serbia I have been using. It stands for the current Serbian government which follows the Vichy France model. They have become vassals or quislings supported by mentors in Washington and Brussels. They desperately want their capital to be Brussels rather than Belgrade. President Tadic has for years been brainwashing the Serbs to believe that Serbia has no alternative but to join the EU even if Serbia has to wait until 2019 or 2021. In a recent speech he corrected himself somewhat that Serbia has no “better” alternative. I have been arguing for years now that a “better” alternative is an association with the BRIC countries. South Africa has done it this year.

In order not to jeopardize the EU membership aspirations, the Vichy Serbia is gradually abandoning 100,000 plus Kosovo Serbs. Of course they have to be careful as 2012 is the election year. Hence, they are hoping to obtain the EU candidate status this year without recognizing Kosovo but are fully aware that they would have to do it in order to become members. The Belgrade political elite sees themselves as Europeans, not Serbs, as illustrated at a September 14-16 security conference called Balkan and Global Security in Belgrade which was opened by president Tadic and sponsored by the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence, Belgrade Center for Security Policy and the European Movement in Serbia.

Russian Ambassador: “Are there any Serbs in this Room”

Russian ambassador to Belgrade Aleksandar Konuzin asked for permission to speak at the above mentioned security conference after the Russian Federation was characterized as a destabilizing factor in the Balkans, which defends Serbia by pursuing own interests. This factor was edited out by 90% of the Belgrade regime media, which characterized the ambassador as a scandal-master.

Ambassador Konuzin said he was puzzled that at this moment, when KFOR/EULEX were transporting the Albanian police and customs officers in violation of the UNSC Resolution #1244 and November 1998 decision, not a single question addressed that issue. “Are there any Serbs in this room? Do you care about the destiny of your compatriots? Russia will defend your national interests together with your foreign minister, while NATO and EU countries will be opposing your national interests. You couldn’t care less for what is happening in your country. Not a single question.” Konuzin said that Russia has interests but who doesn’t but then he recalled that Russian volunteers came to defend Serbia in 1999 without the approval of the Russian government.

In Belgrade the phones were ringing off the hook to praise the ambassador after the patriotic Serbs figured out what transpired at the conference. The internet pages of the Serbian media were inundated with comments praising the ambassador. On Facebook I thanked the ambassador and asked Russia to continue protecting the Kosovo Serbs as the Vichy government in Belgrade will not.

Second Kristallnacht in Kosovo?

In many of my writings, including the book Kosovo is Serbia, I have quoted Mary Walsh’s book Hiding Genocide in Kosovo: A Crime against God and Humanity. Is another genocide or ethnic cleansing of Kosovo Serbs in the making? According to the Frankfurter Algemeine Zeitung the Bundeswehr is sending two armored vehicles with a water gun to follow in order to remove the Serbian barricades. Serbian political analyst Milovan Drecun claims, perhaps alarmingly, that Albanian ROSU special forces are being deployed and that the American Apache helicopters are being ready for action. Eye-witnesses have localized 80 mercenaries from Albania and Macedonia. These sounds like the second round of the Kosovo Kristallnacht, the first took place in March of 2004?

The Palestinian Obsession

by Caroline Glick

If nothing else, the Palestinians’ UN statehood gambit goes a long way towards revealing the deep-seated European and US pathologies that enable and prolong the Palestinian conflict with Israel.

In a nutshell, the Palestinian Authority – or Fatah – or PLO initiative of asking the UN Security Council and the General Assembly to upgrade its status to that of a sovereign UN member state or a sovereign non-UN member state is an act of diplomatic aggression.

Eighteen years ago this week, on September 13, 1993, the PLO signed the Declaration of Principles with Israel on the White House lawn.

There, the terror group committed itself to a peace process in which all disputes between Israel and the PLO – including the issue of Palestinian statehood – would be settled in the framework of bilateral negotiations.

The PA was established on the basis of this accord. The territory, money, arms and international legitimacy it has been given was due entirely to the PLO pledge to resolve the Palestinian conflict with Israel through bilateral negotiations.

By abandoning negotiations with Israel two years ago, and opting instead to achieve its nationalist aims outside the framework of a peace treaty with Israel, the Palestinians are destroying the diplomatic edifice on which the entire concept of a peace process is based. They are announcing that they have no intention of living at peace with Israel. Rather they intend to move ahead at Israel’s expense.

Khaled Abu Toameh: The UN’s Durban III Conference: An Arab View

From HNY

Arab dictatorships and Muslim fundamentalists will get a morale boost next week when the United Nations hosts its “Anti-Racism” Durban III conference in New York. But it is not only Israelis and Jews who eventually pay the price for this type of incitement — it is also the few remaining moderate Arabs and Muslims.

As in the past, the conference will serve as platform for all those who hate Israel and Jews and seek to destroy the Jewish state.

The UN conference’s anti-Israel and anti-Semitic messages and rhetoric will once again be used by the enemies of peace and compromise in the Middle East to justify their violence against Israel and Jews.

The mob that attacked the Israeli embassy in Cairo last weekend will undoubtedly use the messages coming out of the conference to justify their crime. Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Hamas and Hizbullah proxies will say that the conference proves that their right when they for the elimination of Israel.

By hosting speakers like Ahmadinejad, the UN is helping spread his message of hatred and anti-Semitism.

Ahmadinejad and his allies are always happy to exploit such gatherings to promote their denial of the Holocaust and desire to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.

This year’s UN conference is being held at a time when anti-Israel sentiments, especially throughout the Arab and Islamic world, are on the rise. It also coincides with a “diplomatic intifada” that the Palestinian Authority is waging against Israel in the international arena.

This is an “intifada” that is primarily designed to isolate Israel in the international arena by depicting the Jewish state as a source of instability because of its refusal to comply with the Palestinian Authority’s demand for a full withdrawal from all the 1967 territories.

The Palestinian Authority is hoping that membership in the UN would give its representatives access to many UN organizations, where they say they want to prosecute Israelis as war criminals and have Israel expelled from these bodies.

The “Durban III” conference is being held almost on the same day the Palestinian Authority is planning to ask the UN for recognition of a Palestinian state –- a move that is likely to end the peace process and plunge the region into a dangerous period of uncertainty and tensions.

In the region, there is already much talk of a possible violent confrontation between Palestinians and Israelis as a result of the UN statehood bid.

The anti-Israel messages emerging from the conference will only increase tensions and accelerate the eruption of another “cycle of violence.”

The conference is taking place at a time when Hamas and Hizbullah have tens of thousands of missiles directed toward Israel and ready to be used at any time. Those who are chanting “Death to Israel” on the streets of Cairo and Amman will be happy to see that their messages are being echoed in the corridors of the UN next week.

Syrian dictator Bashar Assad will also benefit from the “Durban III” conference as it will distract attention from the daily massacres that his security forces are perpetrating against the Syrian people.

It would have been better if this year’s UN conference had been dedicated to discussing human rights conditions in Syria and the rest of the Arab world. But by singling out Israel, the UN conference is playing into the hands of the radicals and dictators in the region by providing then with the legitimacy they need to pursue their dream of destroying the Jewish state.

What the Middle East needs is conferences that promote peace and coexistence, not hatred and violence.

Remarks from 1389AD:

Just for starters, the UN is an utterly and irredemably corrupt and evil institution. It never should have been organized in the first place. The US never should have joined it. The only thing to do now is to get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US, and never spend another cent of taxpayers’ money on the UN. Without US tax dollars, the entire corrupt mess would immediately become irrelevant, and would soon collapse.

The article mentions “moderate Muslims”. I have a major problem with that characterization. A “moderate” Muslim is either a Muslim who still believes that Islam can be reformed (which is implausible at best, but that’s an argument for another day) or a Muslim who is unobservant or not strictly observant. Here’s why “unobservant” Muslims can suddenly become dangerous. Suffice it to say that “sudden jihad syndrome” is no myth, and that there are reasons in Islamic doctrine, as well as in Muslim societies, why it is so likely to happen. The only real and honorable choice is to leave Islam, with all of the risks that this involves.

Yes, some Muslims actually are (and will remain) “moderate” or unobservant. I do not deny that this is so. Given what we know about Islam, we cannot sufficiently tell the difference between the ostensibly harmless Muslims and the dangerous Muslims — and therefore we must assume all Muslims are equally dangerous.

As I have mentioned previously, one of major goals of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is to stop “Islamophobia”, which is its preferred term for the criticism of or opposition to Islam by non-Muslims.

The word “Islamophobia” is of relatively recent coinage. I never encountered it until after 9-11, and it was subjected to widespread ridicule, at least among non-Muslims and non-leftists, when it first became widely known. However, after the OIC and the UN harped on it for a few years, and the progressive media solemnly repeated the Muslim party line, “Islamophobia” gained general currency as a serious, scholarly word for a dangerous mental deficiency that needed to be eradicated in the West.

It piggybacked its way into politically correct usage on “homophobia”, which in turn drew on the word “xenophobia” as its ideological predecessor. Strangely enough, “xenophobia” is not in my Shorter Oxford Dictionary on Historical Principles, but appears in my Oxford Dictionary of English Etymology. The word is not terribly old; it was coined in the late 19th century during a period when many mental disorders were first being labeled with Greek neologisms. Based on the Greek word for “fear”, a “phobia” was the general term assigned to conditions of morbid fearfulness. “Hydrophobia”, for example, was used to describe a morbid fear of water. The stem “xeno-” means “strange” or “foreign”, and “xenophobia” was originally synonymous with “agoraphobia” — it meant “a morbid fear of open spaces”.

It wasn’t until the 20th century, with its new preoccupation with race, that “xenophobia” was assigned its current meaning: “a morbid dislike or dread of foreigners”. In the second half of the century, after the racial ravages of National Socialism, any distaste for foreigners or preference for one’s own kind was stigmatized as “xenophobic”. This shunning helped pave the way for mass Muslim immigration into Western countries by transforming opposition to such policies into a mental disorder.

Half a century later, the “xenophobia” precedent has helped legitimize its stepchild “Islamophobia”, which does similar service in stigmatizing any resistance to Islamization.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

So much for the pedigree of the word “Islamophobia”. We know its function: to delegitimize the opponents of Islam by transforming their political opinions into a mental illness. And not just a neutral mental illness like obsessive-compulsive disorder or schizophrenia, but an evil sort of lunacy, for which one should be committed to an asylum for the criminally insane.

If the OIC achieves its goals, and Islamophobia is outlawed in the West, lawmakers, bureaucrats, and the police will require guidelines about the ways in which this ugly disease manifests itself, so they can recognize those who suffer from it and assign them to a secure facility for treatment. DHS will need to write up a handbook for its local agents describing what to watch out for. Federal and state legislators will need a clear definition of the word to include in the laws they pass against it.

So what is Islamophobia? What’s a good working definition of the word?

Fortunately, someone has already done the hard work of laying out the concept in detail. And, needless to say, the defining was done by Muslims themselves.

The following article, “A Proposed Definition of Islamophobia”, was written last year by a European group called the European Muslim Initiative for Social Cohesion (EMISCO), an umbrella organization of Muslim NGOs from all over the continent.

Even though it was composed from a European perspective, this definition is probably similar to what will be used in the United States when required. I’ll go through it by sections, bolding phrases and sentences that merit further discussion:

Islamophobia is a form of intolerance and discrimination motivated with fear, mistrust and hatred of Islam and its adherents. It is often manifested in combination with racism, xenophobia, anti-immigrant sentiments and religious intolerance.

Notice that this lead paragraph presupposes an understanding of what is in the mind of an Islamophobe. It assumes that opposition to Islam must be motivated by fear and hatred. It excludes the possibility that opponents of Islam may be motivated primarily by rational self-interest, rather than angry passion.

The text does not specify it, but one may assume that EMISCO’s definition denies the existence of any other motives for opposing Islam. It is simply considered impossible that any non-Muslim could inform himself about the scriptures, teachings, and laws of Islam, read the history of Islamic expansion, observe the behavior of Muslims in his own time, and come to the reasoned conclusion that Islam is a dangerous political ideology that has degraded and impoverished every society in which it has become dominant.

Such rational conclusions cannot be drawn. The possibility of doing so will be defined out of existence. “Fear”, “mistrust”, and “hatred” are the only acknowledged motives that anyone could have for opposing Islamization.

Manifestations of Islamophobia include hate speech, violent acts and discriminatory practices, which can be manifested by both non-state actors and state officials.

“Hate speech” is already well-established as a stand-alone crime in Europe, but in the United States it must accompany a “violent act” or other statutory crime before it can be prosecuted. Perhaps the intention here is to help it become a crime by redefining the scope of “discriminatory practices”, which are already illegal in the USA.

This seems to be the general tactic being pursued by Hillary Clinton and the State Department in their consultations with the OIC — to identify those who oppose Islamization as “discriminatory” as they engage in their “defamation of religion”.

Islamophobic rhetoric associates Muslims with terrorism and portrays them as an international and domestic threat. It makes stereotypical allegations about Muslims as a monolithic group of people whose culture is backward and incompatible with human rights and democracy.

Here we have a familiar theme that is often used by Islamic interest groups to deflect any criticism of Islam. Those who associate Muslims with terrorism are making “stereotypical allegations”. This assertion ignores the possibility that “stereotypical” statements about Muslims may be true, as a statistical assessment of the behavior of Muslims.

If I say that cows are revered under Hinduism and protected from harm, is that a “stereotypical allegation” about Hindus? Of course not; it is a simple statement about the practices of most Hindus.

In the case of Islam, it is true that the vast majority of Muslims do not commit terrorism. A somewhat smaller majority do not provide logistical or financial assistance for terrorists. An even smaller majority — possibly even a minority, depending on which surveys are consulted — disapprove of the actions of Islamic terrorists.

What percentage of those who commit, support, or approve of terrorist acts is too large to be acceptable? What percentage is small enough to be tolerated?

This is a discussion that cannot be engaged in, under the strictures that define “Islamophobia”.

As for “backward and incompatible” — these characteristics can also be statistically determined. By their fruits ye shall know them.

Other examples of Islamophobic rhetoric in political discourse, the media, schools, work place and in the religious sphere involve, but are not limited to:

Calling for banning and/or restricting visibility and practices of Islam in public space on the grounds that Islam is not a religion but an oppressive ideology;

Accusing Muslims of not willing [sic] to integrate in the society where they live in, but imposing their own values and culture;

Describing Muslims as a demographic time-bomb which will become a numerical majority where they are minority for the time-being;

Charging Muslims with not being loyal to the country that they live in but to the Muslim community as a whole;

Advocating collective expulsion of Muslims based on the accusation that they are enemies within;

Dehumanizing and demonizing Muslims as a collective “other” defined only on religious basis, leading to the racialisation of the “Muslim category”;

Accusing Muslims of being responsible for wrongdoing committed by other Muslim individuals or groups;

Denying contributions that Muslims made and have been making to the society and World;

Rejecting any possibility of co-operation between Muslims and non-Muslims.

As you can see, the above list includes — in somewhat cartoonish terms — many of the arguments that are used in this blog and other forums that oppose sharia and the Islamization of the West.

In “restricting visibility and practices of Islam in public space”, countries like France are simply enforcing the secularity of the public space, which is considered an integral characteristic of the country’s laws and culture. Muslims insist that an exception must be made for them; that they are different; that their religion requires public displays. Thus we must comply with their own laws and accommodate them.

Why?

Why must we do that?

Those questions cannot be answered, or even discussed, because to do so constitutes Islamophobia.

Many Muslims are most emphatically unwilling to “integrate” — they proclaim that fact openly, and their imams preach against integration in their sermons. To point this out is to state a simple fact, one that is backed up by ample evidence. The “demographic time-bomb” would be less of an issue if Muslims were willing to integrate.

Anyone who objects to his own culture being gradually supplanted by an alien and hostile culture is therefore Islamophobic.

The “racialisation of the ‘Muslim category’” is an important strategy — it helps turn criticism of Islam into the legal equivalent of racial discrimination, which will help the campaign to make “Islamophobia” illegal in the United States.

Acts of Islamophobia, which can be committed by non-state actors or state officials, include:

Physical attacks, which are carried out spontaneously by individuals or organized groups, on individuals, community institutions and property that are rightly or wrongly associated with Muslims or Islam;

Discriminatory immigration and naturalization procedures directly or indirectly excluding Muslims or placing them in a disadvantageous situation in comparison with people of other religious origin;

Racial/religious profiling measures, including stop and search, surveillance of religious and cultural Muslim organizations, and no flight lists, which have disproportional impact on Muslims;

Restrictions, by either legislative or administrative means, on the visibility of religious symbols targeting at exclusively Muslims, as in the case of prohibition of minarets.

“Physical attacks” are already against the law in all countries. There is no need to add an “Islamophobic” category of assault, except to further the exceptionalism of Islam, as required by sharia.

“Racial/religious profiling measures” are virtually non-existent in almost all Western countries, so the issue is moot. Islam has already won that skirmish.

“Discriminatory immigration and naturalization procedures” are an inherent right of all sovereign nations. To deny that right is to remove the sovereignty of nations, and make them part of the Ummah.

Now we come to policy recommendations:

Institutional Islamophobia is state policies and systematic practices discriminating Muslims [sic] based on their religious identity. It poses a serious threat to the security of Muslims because such policies and practices can lead to spreading bias, and therefore be a fertile ground for hate crimes

Recommendations to Combat Islamophobia

In order to combat Islamophobia and foster tolerance and mutual understanding based on the international human rights standards, States should:

Take all necessary measures in their legal systems to ensure a safe environment free from Islamophobic harassment, violence and discrimination in all walks of life;

Develop and implement comprehensive educational strategies and programme for combating Islamophobia;

Create, whenever necessary, specialized bodies and initiatives in order to combat Islamophobia;

Include in their integration policies programmes and activities addressing Islamophobia and its roots causes;

Record, monitor and maintain reliable information and statistics about Islamophobic hate crimes committed within their territory and make such reports publically [sic] available;

Combat Islamophobic hate crimes, which can be fuelled by Islamophobic hate speech in the media and on the Internet;

Take all necessary measures in order to prevent racial/religious profiling and other forms of institutionalized Islamophobia;

Conduct public awareness campaigns and specific programmes for governmental officials in order to combat Islamophobia;

Encourage and support intergovernmental human rights agencies and non-governmental organizations dealing with Islamophobia;

Strive to develop necessary mechanisms and standards to increase international co-operation in combating Islamophobia.

To implement “comprehensive educational strategies” means to enforce sharia-compliance in schools, training programs, and all other forms of public instruction.

To create “specialized bodies and initiatives” to evaluate and monitor eruptions of Islamophobia means to grant the demands for sharia, since only Muslims may judge the behavior of non-Muslims concerning Islam.

To “record, monitor and maintain reliable information and statistics about Islamophobic hate crimes” means to augment the existing surveillance state for the purposes of enforcing Islamic law.

To “combat Islamophobic hate crimes… in the media and on the Internet” means to enforce the tenets of sharia concerning Islamic slander, and restrict free speech accordingly.

To “increase international co-operation” means to allow the UN — which is already pushing sharia-compliance with respect to the “defamation of religion” — to override any legal impediments to sharia within its member states.

In other words, this is all about enforcing sharia on Muslim and non-Muslim alike.

The end of the article lists the supporting organizations:

This proposal is supported by: European Muslim Initiative for Social Cohesion (Denmark-France), Jewish-Muslim Cooperation Platform (Belgium), Austrian Muslim Initiative, Collectif Contre l’Islamophobie en France (CCIF), JPL MONDE (France), Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF – Germany), Ethnic Debate Forum and Fair Play (Denmark), The National Association of Muslim Police (NAMP-UK), Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association (Greece), Muslim Community of Bulgaria, Muslim Committee on Human Rights in Central Asia (Kazakhstan), Turkish Community in Germany (TGD).

As you can see, there is a National Association of Muslim Police in Britain. Do they have a National Association of Christian Police? Would such a thing be permitted?

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

When considering EMISCO’s definitions and recommendations, think back on what Secretary of State Clinton said last month in Istanbul.

Remember the OIC’s stated intentions concerning Islamophobia, as stated in its foreign ministers’ resolution and its annual “Islamophobia Observatory” report.

Notice also that the UN Human Rights Council has already fallen into line with the OIC by passing Resolution 16/18, which Mrs. Clinton was touting in Istanbul.

EMISCO’s definition is just part of a larger mosaic. It represents one strategy within a concerted push by the Ummah, acting through the OIC and various other affiliated bodies and their compliant Western counterparts.

Islam means business when it comes to eradicating “Islamophobia”. Thanks to the enormous wealth wielded by the petro-sheiks, the fecklessness of our leaders, and the somnolence of ordinary Westerners, the OIC is well on the way to achieving its goal.

Don’t think it can’t happen here in the USA. Hillary Clinton is dead set on it. If Barack Hussein Obama gets re-elected next year and manages to appoint a Supreme Court justice or two, all bets are off.

Sustainable Development: Transforming America

This is a United Nations initiative that has some very terrifying implications for those countries who sign up to UN treaties.

It seems clear that should this come to pass all our liberties are profoundly threatened.

Although this article was written some time ago there is a lot of information available online.

As the “sustainable development” movement continues to gain momentum, it is worthwhile to step back and take a long look at the big picture, painted with a broad brush to reveal what the United States might look like as the movement’s vision is more fully implemented over the next 50 years or so.

The picture painted here is based on official documents published by several government agencies and non-government organizations during the last decade. These documents were rarely reported in the news, and average working people have no idea what sustainable development really means, and even less knowledge of what is in store for the future. If the vision of sustainable development continues to unfold as it has in the last decade, life in the United States will be quite different in the future.

The Vision

Half the land area of the entire country will be designated “wilderness areas,” where only wildlife managers and researchers will be allowed. These areas will be interconnected by “corridors of wilderness” to allow migration of wildlife, without interference by human activity. Wolves will be as plentiful in Virginia and Pennsylvania as they are now in Idaho and Montana. Panthers and alligators will roam freely from the Everglades to the Okefenokee and beyond.

Surrounding these wilderness areas and corridors, designated “buffer zones” will be managed for “conservation objectives.” The primary objective is “restoration and rehabilitation.”

Rehabilitation involves the repair of damaged ecosystems, while restoration usually involves the reconstruction of natural or semi-natural ecosystems. As areas are restored and rehabilitated, they are added to the wilderness designation, and the buffer zone is extended outward.

Buffer zones are surrounded by what is called “zones of cooperation.” This is where people live – in “sustainable communities.” Sustainable communities are defined by strict “urban growth boundaries.”

Land outside the growth boundaries will be managed by government agencies, which grant permits for activities deemed to be essential and sustainable.

Open space, to provide a “viewshed” and sustainable recreation for community residents will abut the urban boundaries. Beyond the viewshed, sustainable agricultural activities will be permitted, to support the food requirements of nearby communities….

UN’s Agenda 21 forcing society back to the Ghetto

By Dr. Ileana Johnson Paugh, Monday, August 15, 2011

I came across an article from Baton Rouge, LA, with a sugary title like an elementary singsong, “Grow Forth and Prosper.” Then I zoomed in on the subtitle, “Smart Growth proponents say building up may save Baton Rouge – but only if we do it the right way.” I am not sure which way Kendra R. Chamberlain understands it, but it is obviously the UN Agenda 21 way.

Such articles supporting Smart Growth, Smart Meters, and Sustainable Development have started to appear across the country with regularity in support of UN Agenda 21’s goals of destroying our economy, control and reduce our population, control our land use, redistribution of wealth, under the guise of protecting our environment. Slowly but surely, they have made great strides across the U.S. with very little opposition or understanding from the population. None of the articles mentions UN Agenda 21 at all.

Take Smart Meters for example, they have been installed in Maryland with the help of power company bribes ranging from $40-100, being sold as good for the environment. Now people are suffering six hours every day when their electricity is remotely cut off at consumption peaks.

How many people will have to die of heat stroke? How will electronics fare, especially computers? What would happen to food in the fridge? How will the A/C units cope with power surges? How will homes deal with the humidity that will build up in basements since de-humidifiers will be idle? How will sump pumps route water away from home foundations? There will be a lot of mold growing.

Dominion Power is going to install Smart Meters in Virginia and is telling customers who want to opt out that it is not optional. Really? Who decided that a homeowner could not opt out of a particular device? Since these Smart Meters stream data from homes 24/7 to a remote location, telling somebody everything about your life cycle in that house, when has home surveillance without a warrant become legal in this country?

UN Agenda 21 has decided that America has too much urban sprawl; we have to cut back, de-grow, and return to the pre-car era of the early 20th century. Kendra enthusiastically says that urban sprawl makes us “suffer economically and in terms of peace of mind.” Who knew that giving up our cars, suburban homes, and moving into high-rise tenements pre-determined and built by supporters of UN Agenda 21, will make us happy and pain free?

In Kendra’s liberal view, suburbia has caused a bankrupt bus system, ghost neighborhoods, crumbling infrastructure within the city, “while development in the surrounding suburbs is flourishing.” Kendra, could it be the high crime rate, high school dropout rate, drug use and dealing, lack of societal responsibility for one’s children, lack of work ethic, creation of perennial welfare generations?

The Center for Planning and Excellence, a UN Agenda 21 approved organization, will hold its annual Smart Growth Summit, “a conference of some of the most brilliant and bold minds – both local and national – in urban land use and development in Baton Rouge.” I have news for Kendra, the local and national minds that are making policy for Baton Rouge in conjunction with UN Agenda 21 are in violation of the Constitution.

Smart growth is indeed the “anti-American” dream. The ideals of a white picket fence and two-car garage have not lost appeal, Kendra, to most Americans, perhaps to UN Agenda 21 lap dogs.

The city is aligning with the tenets of Smart Growth, moving people from suburbs, their homes, and their cars, into high-rise ghetto tenements within five minute’s walk or bike from work, shops, school. Buses and trains become the main mode of longer distance transportation because UN Agenda 21 says that agricultural land must be reclaimed for unspoiled nature and roads will be abandoned and no longer repaired. Nobody objects to walking except that you will be trapped like a rat in a five-minute walk maze, which will be your world every day. No spur of the moment trips, no hopping in your car for a 25-mile ride to a friend’s house.

The Dulles Corridor in D.C., when completed, will cost $17-25 toll in one direction, a way to encourage locals out of their cars and into trains. The out-of-country developers do not really care as long as their investment pays off.

Traditional washing machines are disappearing. If you purchase one in the future, the water level will be preset and so will the type of detergent that you can use, all in compliance with UN Agenda 21 goals. Cap and trade is alive and well within UN Agenda 21.

Kendra repeats the pre-scripted sales pitch of UN Agenda 21 NGOs (non-governmental organizations), “public-private partnerships are the key to establishing successful smart growth projects.” She has no idea what it entails, it just sound good, warm and fuzzy.

Kendra, we live in a thriving country, with thriving communities and, until recently, a thriving economy that bureaucrats and politicians in Washington have destroyed, we do not need to re-engineer the UN Agenda 21’s “sustainable thriving community.” There is no such thing – most developing countries that have concocted this monstrosity live in substandard conditions because corrupt politicians have filled their coffers with wealth stolen from the UN coffers.
[…]
All these grants given to communities and local governments come with strings attached, read the fine print, the main string is the loss of your freedom, land use, cars, and homes. Taking funds away from fixing and building roads in order to buy more buses and build high-rise tenements is not the way most Americans want to live.
[…]
“The smart growth philosophy is rooted in urban designs that dominated the first half of the 20th century, before the automobile became a household commodity.” Why would anyone want to go back to those times, Kendra? Do you have a sick wish to destroy one hundred years of progress?

UN Agenda 21 Smart Growth has five tenets:

Existing Infrastructure (rehabilitate areas already established in the city) Maybe Americans like living on their farms, why force them into ghettoes?

Low Auto Dependence (no driving within a community, offering trolley, buses, walkways, bike paths, rails) What if I don’t want to give up my car? What if I cannot bike, walk, take bus, or train?

High Density (anti-sprawl, plucking us from the suburbs and placing us forcefully into tenements with specific boundaries)

Mixed-Use, Mixed-Income (multi-income community with multi-problems, disease born by overcrowding and close proximity, schools, supermarkets, retails, pharmacies, and work within the confines of the boundaries of the community; if it sounds Orwellian, it is).

Whole Community (all this crowding and proximity is supposed to create a wonderful kumbaya sense of togetherness and community) Yes, I remember the sense of community we had in our communist tenements, noise, dirt, disease, everybody spying on everybody else for a little extra food handouts from the ruling elite, beatings, and disappearances…

This brilliant satire arrived via email, author unknown:

We are the very model of a modern Labor government!
And we won’t rest till every dollar of yours is completely spent.
We think that we are experts on all matters quite political
And we will brainwash you from temperate zones to areas tropical!

We do not care how much it hurts to take on all our legal rot
About your worries and opinions we don’t give a f***ing jot!
Elections are a waste of time; we do it so you think you’re free
But underneath this woeful scam we know this never was to be.

Pink Batts and Fuel-Watch simply are as good as we can ever do,
We know quite well some didn’t fall, but many fell into this pooh!
But don’t despair just yet, our best laws haven’t really seen the light.
We cannot say just what they are. We know the levels of your fright!

We do not care one bit if you all think we are contrarian,
We need to try a little game that is totalitarian.
So please don’t bother writing us or posting in the blogosphere
We are convinced that CO2 will damage the whole atmosphere!

We must conform to UN binds that leave us in a dangerous world,
But we know, too, the UN flag in Canberra soon will be unfurled.
We know the UN wants your money, wants to give it all away
‘Cos some of them still need a costly junket for another day.

While immigrants may be a lot of people most “Islamical”.
We think that you should learn to eat all foods that are “halalical”.
We want to make Australia either Chinese or a Caliphate,
Get used to it: start learning how to live without expressing hate.

The Greens have given us the tools to ruin our Australia,
If Abbot had got in no doubt our plans would be a failure,
So there you have it. Call us bad. We do not give a flying rip!
We know you’ll learn to like it as you cannot really jump this ship!

You trusted us to lead this land, you gave us a small “mandidate”.
Too bad you didn’t do your homework on your Labor candidate!
So why on earth should we not keep on wrecking all important things.
You should have known that from our past we never earned our angel wings.

Some think our words and spin are very truly pure Orwellian,
But let us reassure you that we’re simply Machiavellian.
With PM Bobby Brown around demanding you fall into line
It must be very clear by now we will be no one’s Valentine!

So if you think you’ll get us out by voting for the other side
Remember we have two more years to do our best at “Nationcide”.
That really is our goal and we can state it with an honest heart.
Too bad for you we knew before that most of you were not so smart!

The Media in this country have been helping us in many ways,
We didn’t even think they’d be so easy on us anyways.
These useful little parrots will say anything and even more,
And when we’re finished with them they’ll be swiftly shown the exit door!

So now you see the lucky country truly has run out of luck.
First Rudd, then Gillard, now Bob Brown and we will turn it into muck.
Too bad if you are sad and down there’s little you can do at all.
Just watch the country go downhill, exactly how we planned its fall.

Enjoy your cave, enjoy no lights enjoy your primitivity,
You could get lucky, sleep in hay like scenes from the Nativity.
The good old days are gone for now unless you join our “KGB”,
But we don’t think that many here applaud Marxist philosophy!

You should have learned from Whitlam that we really haven’t got a clue!
But Gillard has outdone him and you all are in this messy stew.
Too late for you, too late to cry, too late for you all to repent.
We are the very model of a modern Labor government!!

Kevin Rudd wants a seat at the UN security Council. Julia Gillard is in bed with the Greens who essentially support BDS.

I don’t like Israel’s chances at getting any moral support here.

Rudd says abstain on Palestine vote; Gillard backs Israel

FOREIGN Minister Kevin Rudd wants Australia to abstain in a potentially explosive United Nations vote to recognise a Palestinian state, pitting him against Julia Gillard’s declared strong support for Israel.

Mr Rudd has written to the Prime Minister recommending Australia vote neither for nor against a resolution set to dominate a UN summit in New York next month.

If followed, the letter – sent before Mr Rudd had heart surgery on August 1 – would result in Australia trying to duck the controversy over efforts to allow Palestine into the UN as a sovereign state.

Mr Rudd’s suggested tactic is being interpreted as an attempt to avoid antagonising Arab nations and to protect Australia’s campaign for a temporary seat on the Security Council, due to go to a vote next year.

But abstaining from any vote on Palestinian statehood would annoy Israel – which has mounted a worldwide diplomatic offensive against the resolution – and would likely leave Australia out of step with the US.

Ms Gillard has made support for Israel one of her foreign policy priorities since toppling Mr Rudd for the leadership. Australia has a policy of supporting a two-state solution but has not backed unilateral moves towards Palestinian statehood in the past, calling for a negotiated settlement to the long-running conflict.

Three prominent Jewish groups held talks in Canberra with Mr Rudd and Ms Gillard in early June to express opposition to the UN vote, which is expected in late September around the opening of the annual General Assembly.

The meetings – led by Executive Council of Australian Jewry president Danny Lamm, the Zionist Federation of Australia’s Philip Chester and the Australia/Israel and Jewish Affairs Council’s Jeremy Jones – were described as a presentation rather than lobbying.

”We went to present and asked to be listened to about where we stood on particular issues,” Mr Jones said yesterday.

Palestinian Authority spokesman Ghassan Khatib was in Canberra last week to put the Palestinian case in favour of the resolution and met Chris Evans, who was acting foreign minister while Mr Rudd was in hospital.

Moammar Mashni, of Australians for Palestine, said his organisation had met a number of government members in June urging Australia to back the UN resolution in line with Labor’s support for a two-state settlement.

In the latest ‘you’ve got to be kidding’ news from the United Nations, North Korea assumed the presidency of the Conference on Disarmament Tuesday.

“Bare months after the U.N. finally suspended Libya’s Col. Muammar Qaddafi from its Human Rights Council, North Korea wins the propaganda coup of heading the world’s disarmament agency,” the executive director of UN Watch Hillel Neuer said in a statement protesting the move. “It’s asking the fox to guard the chickens, and damages the U.N.’s credibility.”

According to the U.N. summary of the meeting, North Korea’s So Se Pyong addressed the 65-member arms control forum, saying that “he was very much committed to the Conference and during his presidency he welcomed any sort of constructive proposals that strengthened the work and credibility of the body.”

Neuer said that though North Korea’s new role as head of the conference, which reports to the U.N. General Assembly, would likely be justified by the U.N. by saying it was the result of a an “automatic rotation,” such an excuse was not sufficient…

Why are we still in the UN? EPIC FAIL. It’s long past time to get the US out of the UN, and the UN out of the US.

As if all of that were not enough…

The redoubtable Blazing Cat Fur reveals that Iran has been elected VP of the UN General Assembly. Words fail me.

The recent death of Nazi Milivoj Asner in a Caritas nursing home in Austria (see Another one bites the dust…) inspired Julia Gorin to do some further research.

It turns out that it is no accident that Caritas sheltered this aged Nazi. Caritas has been corrupt from the get-go:

WWII Nazi Dies in Austria, in the Care of Catholic Charity Caritas

Posted by Julia Gorin

From Monday:
Anger as WWII ‘killer’ dies in Austria

Austria has been branded as a “paradise for Nazis” after it emerged that an alleged war criminal deceased in a care home in Carinthia.

A spokesman for a Caritas retirement centre in Klagenfurt confirmed newspaper reports claiming that Milivoj Asner passed away today (Mon). He said the Croat perished aged 98 in the institution last week.

Asner is suspected of being behind the deportation of hundreds of Serbs, Roma and members of the Jewish community in Croatia’s Ustasa movement during World War Two (WWII). Asner changed his name to Georg Aschner after fleeing to Austria when the Communists took over his homeland in 1945. He received the Austrian citizenship the next year.

Asner lived in Carinthian capital Klagenfurt to his death. Austrian prosecutors opened a case against him due to occurrences in WWII in 2004 before Croatia demanded his extradition one year later. However, Asner was spared a trial due to his mental condition.

Juridical decision-makers in Austria asked a German expert to examine the suspected war criminal in 2009 after they were accused of having acted biased as several expert opinions established by Austrian doctors suggested Asner was not fit for legal procedures.

The debate over how to handle the issue intensified in 2008 when British journalists claimed Asner – who allegedly suffered from dementia – must be strong enough to go to court after spotting him at a fan zone in Klagenfurt during the European Football Championship.

Now Efraim Zuroff, the director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s office in Jerusalem, Israel, has claimed Austria was a “paradise for Nazis.”

“His decisive role in the killing of hundreds of Jewish people, Serbians and Roma in the Slavonian city of Prozega is evident,” the historian said today (Mon) after being informed that Asner has died.

Zuroff criticised juridical authorities in Austria for “assigning benevolent doctors” to judge Asner’s condition. The co-founder of “Operation: Last Chance” said their decisions helped the Croat-born ex-police chief to evade an extradition and a court case.

The historian – who has often been described as the world’s “Last Nazi Hunter” – called on all countries in the world to show “final urgent efforts” to bring WWII era criminals to justice. Asner was on number three of the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s list of the 10 most wanted WWII crime suspects. Zuroff stressed Asner’s spot will be occupied by someone else “soon,” explaining that “many people are in waiting.”

Austria – which became part of Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich in 1938 – has been widely criticised for allegedly failing to make a clean sweep considering residents’ involvements in wartime crimes in contrast to Germany and other countries. Many former army generals and diplomats suspected of supporting Nazi Germany’s genocide kept their high-ranking positions after 1945 or were reassigned by public institutions.

Isn’t it charming? The old Nazi died in the care of a retirement home affiliated with the Catholic Caritas charity.

And Nazism STILL has nothing to do with the Catholic Church, right? Well, we already know that Caritas doesn’t care much for the Jewish State, and is involved in activism against it:

Fence keeping out Jew-killers: No good.

From NGO Monitor:

According to the Simon Weisenthal Center, The production and distribution of such political material may place Caritas in violation of its charitable tax status on donations made in North America, Western Europe and Australasia.”

The Simon Weisenthal Center also noted that the poster undoubtedly exacerbates Middle East-related antisemitism, justifies further attacks on Jewish targets under the sanctification cover of the Holy See and impugns Caritas’ credibility as an effective relief and unbiased relief agency.

And this:

CESR coordinates research projects on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from its New York City and Gaza regional offices with a variety of organizations, including LAW , Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights, B’Tselem, Palestinian Ministry of Education, UNRWA, Birzeit University, The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, Defense of Children International/Palestine Section, as well as Caritas, Center on Housing Rights and Evictions, and PENGON. As past NGO Monitor reports have documented, many of these NGOs are active in promoting the Durban strategy of demonization against Israel.

And this:

The “NGO Statement on International Protection”, drafted by “a wide range of NGOs” was presented at the Executive Committee in October. The NGO participants in the UNHCR Executive Committee session included Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, CARE International, CARITAS International, Oxfam International, BADIL and World Vision International, among others. The statement called on “all actors to redouble their efforts at addressing this [protection] gap for Palestinian refugees, beginning with their right of return in keeping with UN General Assembly Resolution 194, including the right to restitution and compensation.”

But let’s see what we can come up with in our Balkans file about Caritas. Why, here’s something:

Feminists in the U.S. were treated to a propaganda blitz about rapes allegedly carried out by Serbs. It had an electrifying effect. In the end, the radical group “Madre,” which previously supported Central American women, launched an emotional campaign to save thousands of Bosnian Muslim women allegedly raped by Bosnian Serb soldiers. Gloria Steinem lent the story respectability in Ms. Magazine. The N.Y. Times wrote that 20,000 to 50,000 Bosnian women had been raped, despite the fact that there was no substantiation for such numbers – except, of course, from the Bosnian Muslim “Ministry of Information.” Despite doubts expressed by Helsinki Watch, Human Rights Watch and respected individuals such as Simone Weil, the president of the European Parliament, the American media relied on the Bosnian War Crimes Commission and Caritas, the Catholic charity connected to the Croatian government, for verification of these outrageous claims…

– Alvin Dorfman and Heather Cottin, “U.S. Jews and the Balkan Situation,” Jewish Currents, April 1996

Caritas is also present in Kosovo, ministering to the minority Catholic Albanians there. That would seem reasonable, except when you consider that this ancient Orthodox-Serb land was marked for conquest by the Vatican from the beginning. Or if you consider this:

Vatican’s charity Caritas smuggled weapons to KLA, incl. mortars stolen from NATO bases in Germany. The consignee was a parish priest in Italy. One of three drivers of the convoy arrested by Italian customs had links to BND. Before Kosovo “independence” declaration, pope Benedict stated that Vatican would heed the international community. While using extreme Albanians to break Serbian-Orthodox influence, as Berlin did, high-powered Catholic clergy declared, “a new phase” can begin “with the independence” of Kosovo.

– Piotr Bein, “Mass Deception on Mass Violence: The Case of Serbs,” prepared for the International Comparative Genocide Research project of the Hiroshima City University, 2009 [Worth reading; there is plenty of dirt about Vice President Joseph Biden at that link as well!]

A similar note from UK blogger Neil Clark:

The Vatican gave massive diplomatic support to anti-Yugoslav forces & provided both money ($2 billion from the Knights of Malta to Tudjman) & weapons (Caritas was caught smuggling mortars & ground to air missiles allegedly stolen from NATO to the KLA). Their motivation was purely religious. Their ancient conflict with the Orthodox Church.

And in less recent but searingly relevant history, we have this declassified U.S. Army index card filing from 1953:

Pavelic, Ante
War criminal, who is believed to be in Argentina or Italy. Former ustasha leader, who directed the Croatian nationalist movement; this movement has sponsored an “information collecting agency” for operations in Yugoslavia and Austria under cover of the various Caritas offices in Austria.

– Unknown Document, U.S. Army, declassified, June 24, 1953

(Note: The introduction on the page where this document can be found online reads, “From the US Army File on Ante Pavelic: Another of the small, index card-sized files mixed among the papers of Pavelic’s dossier, this refers to a piece on Ustase subverting the Catholic refugee agency Caritas.” It is certainly possible that the charity was being “subverted,” but unfortunately it is just as possible that the misuse of the charity was done with the knowledge, collusion, or blind-eye-turning of its administrators. Much like all those Islamic “humanitarian organizations” that piled into Bosnia and Kosovo and were “subverted” by jihadists, right? H-ll, why limit it to Bosnia and Kosovo? One could say the same about virtually any Islamic charity operating today: jihadist fronts. Other fascinating documents from the immediate post-WWII era here.)

Croatian Caritas was founded by Cardinal Stepinac himself, that great savior of a handful of Jews and Serbs who were trying to escape the Croatian genocide of Jews and Serbs which he oversaw, by a regime that he helped put in place.

The word “caritas,” of course, means love for all people, and here it is being used in context in an email from author Gabriel Wilensky, responding to a comment left under my 2010 article about the Vatican’s WWII role in genocide (the comment: “Can’t we just forgive and forget?”):

Yes, That JPost comment is remarkable. What is perhaps little known and equally as remarkable is the tremendous and effective effort of the Catholic Church to get war criminals out of Europe and to have the sentences of the ones caught either commuted or reduced. It is quite revolting, actually, to know that clergymen pushed the Allies very hard — supposedly in the spirit of Christian caritas — to get these savages off the hook. Same argument: too much suffering, can’t we just move on? they argued…

Catholic Caritas, then, makes little distinction between the killed and the killers, especially when the killers are promoting the “right” agenda.

And in the modern, NWO incarnation of Hitler’s vision, the word apparently plays a role as well:

The Nobel Committee’s award to Obama has been viewed by many, on the left and right, as a surprise. But it makes perfect sense. The committee noted that Obama “has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play.” All of this is true. Obama has built up the power of global institutions at the expense of the United States.

While the Vatican statement congratulating Obama was also seen by some as a surprise, it too makes sense. The Vatican expressed the hope that “this most important recognition will ultimately encourage such a difficult but fundamental commitment for the future of humanity, so that it might bring the expected results.”

The “expected results” are evident when one considers that Pope Benedict, the leader of 1.2 billion Catholics, had endorsed a “World Political Authority,” a form of world government, in his recent encyclical “Caritas in Veritate.” This world political authority, in the Vatican view, is supposed to “manage the economy,” bring about “timely disarmament,” and ensure “food, security and peace.”

Who was actually raped in the Balkans? Does anyone care?

The evidence shows that the actual victims of rape in the Balkans have been Serbian girls and women.

How very inconvenient for those who have a vested interest in continuing to libel the Serbs, so as to have an excuse for continuing the persecution and killing of Serbs and the occupation and theft of Serbian lands.

Archimandrite Nektarios Serfes at a gravesite in K o s o v o

Please share with others…

Beloved in our Risen Lord,

CHRIST IS RISEN!

Humbly I greet you with the Radiant Joy of our Lord’s Holy Resurrection and I pray all is well with you!

All is well in Kosovo/Metohija is not the situation at this time! We who live in our own economic struggles and woes all at times have to make sacrifices but in the end we always endure! Our Lord God takes care of us all with His love, and He will as well take care of those currently who are living in constant fear in Kosovo!

The fear is that it has been told that Serbian Orthodox Christians are not allowed to return to Kosovo/Metohija! Every Serb perceived the event as a warning against their return! Why? Kosovo is after all still the region of Serbia and every citizen has the right to live in their own land. Every Serbian has the right to live as free people, and they should have the privilege and the honor to live on their land! The independent ideals are to completely get rid of every Serb citizen which well includes other majorities. No Serb will fall to their knees nor be persuaded to leave the region! Serbian citizens have rights and the ideals of human dignity!

That not one Serbian has the right to live in their own land? Orthodox Christianity now lives in constant fear in Kosovo!

That not one Serbian has the right to plow their fields without living in constant fear! Orthodox Christianity now lives in constant fear in Kosovo!

That not one Serbian has the right to practice their Holy Orthodox Faith? That the reconstruction of the Orthodox Church’s and monasteries cannot be rebuilt out of constant fear as we know that more and I humbly repeat more then 153 of these churches and monasteries have been destroyed, and less then five have been somewhat repaired? Those who destroyed these churches and monastery should offer assistance to rebuilt and to stop destroying that which is sacred and holy to the Orthodox Church! Orthodox Christianity now lives in constant fear in Kosovo!

That the Serbian Orthodox Christians who are burying the repose in the Lord are in constant fear as of late their cemeteries have been vandalized. I myself have witnessed empty graves in which their lies no more bodies to rest in peace. My goodness we persecute the living and we seem to think persecuting the dead is the norm of the day? This type of act even against Serbian Orthodox cemeteries and the dead should cease at this hour. Orthodox Christianity now lives in constant fear in Kosovo!

How can anyone ever forget that that St. Sava who is very much revered as a saint even up until this day that his bones where burned in Belgrade and this day is commemorated in the Orthodox Church .

That the Serbian Orthodox Church’s and monasteries are now not living under Peace Keeping Troops as in the past, and discussions are that the local police will now offer protection? No one will trust that the police will protect anyone and anything that is labeled Serbian! Where are the police now, as just before Holy Pascha-Easter of this year, a land mine was discovered in a Serbian Orthodox cemetery in Kosovo. According to a 2010 U.N. Mission in Kosovo report.

These constant hate crimes against the Serbs in Kosovo and other minorities should cease at this time, and that all citizens in the region should have the right to live as free people!

As Orthodox Christians let us offer our humble prayers for those who continue to struggle and suffer from constant persecution in Kosovo/Metohija and appeal that these hate crimes cease at this time -as we have seen enough since March 1998! This is a time for talks and understanding of one another, as these are not the times to destroy or bring further humanitarian sufferings among each other!

Let us humbly stop defacing one another and leave the dead in peace, as well as that which is sacred to all Orthodox Christians around the world their Church’s and monasteries, and every Orthodox Christian who lives in Kosovo/Metohija!

Please let us help those in desperate need in Kosovo/Metohija as the Decani Monastery Relief Fund still exist and still prays to offer some help and consolation of our loving kindness.

Croat propagandist Jeffrey T. Kuhner

Posted by Julia Gorin at Republican Riot

The coming Balkan war: Hague conviction of Croatian general rekindles designs for ‘Greater Serbia’

By Jeffrey T. Kuhner, Washington Times, Apr. 19

Croatia is headed toward another war. The Balkans – again – will explode with violence. It is only a matter of time. And the so-called “international community” has been pivotal in stoking the flames of ethnic conflict.

TRANSLATION: Because a popular Croatian general has been sentenced to 24 years for war crimes instead of another Serbian general getting sentenced to 46 years, this is cause for war.

Recently, the [ICTY] sentenced Croatian Gen. Ante Gotovina to 24 years in prison. The ICTY’s ruling rightly has sparked angry protests across Croatia.

Gen. Gotovina has been convicted for having “command responsibility” over an August 1995 military campaign, known as Operation Storm, that effectively ended the Croat-Serbian war. The ICTY alleges that the Croatian general oversaw the expulsion of 100,000 ethnic Serbs and the murder of hundreds of civilians. According to the United Nations war crimes court, the campaign constituted a “joint criminal enterprise.”

The ICTY’s verdict is preposterous and outrageous. Gen. Gotovina is not a war criminal; rather, he is a Croatian patriot and hero whose campaign restored Croatia’s territorial integrity. Moreover, it delivered a decisive blow to the late Serbian strongman Slobodan Milosevic’s dream of a “Greater Serbia.”

OH YEAH — that 1990s Greater Serbia design that has always existed exclusively in the pages of the media. To re-quote Andy Wilcoxson who, unlike Kuhner, has been actually paying attention to the Hague proceedings for MORE THAN A DAY: “Even if the Bosnian Serbs had secretly been fighting for a “Greater Serbia,” they would have needed the cooperation of Slobodan Milosevic and the Serbian government in Belgrade — which was not forthcoming.”

From 1991 until 1995, Milosevic’s marauders rampaged across the region. He used the disintegration of Yugoslavia – a synthetic multinational state – to advance his goal of establishing a Great Serbian empire stretching from the Danube to the Adriatic.

Unlike the “non-synthetic,” ethnically pure state of Croatia? Whose borders — claimed and therefore legitimized by the Croats — were communist-delineated when they weren’t Nazi-delineated. Meanwhile, Croatians sure didn’t have a problem with that synthetic Yugoslav state when they voluntarily signed on to it, accepting an over-generous accommodation offered by the victorious Serbs to their WWI-era haters and enemies based on Slavic unity. Like the Slovenes, the Croats took the deal and immediately got to work undermining the country to get their independent state anyway, with their first international sponsor being Adolf Hitler and their next one being a newly reunified Germany, along with the Vatican and America.

In Croatia, Serbian paramilitaries – aided and abetted by the Yugoslav army – waged a brutal war of aggression. The result: A third of Croatia’s territory was annexed, more than 180,000 Croatians were ethnically cleansed, and nearly 20,000 civilians were murdered. Milosevic’s aim was to unite the truncated parts of Croatia with the nearly 70 percent of territory his forces had carved out in neighboring Bosnia. Call it state-building through genocidal partition.

Does Kuhner have Serbs confused with Croats, whom it takes mega willpower to let a Serb pass in their presence without knifing it? Yes, I said “it.” That’s the status of a Serb in Zagreb (Remember: To be a Serb in Zagreb is to be a pig in Tehran.) Meanwhile, expecting to stay a citizen of the country that one was a citizen of the day before — unreasonable! The federalists become the “rebels”!

As Canadian former ambassador to Bulgaria, Albania and Yugoslavia, James Bissett, explained in a longer version of his article last year:

Germany has always looked upon Croatia as a traditional ally and actively supported Croatia’s desire to separate from Yugoslavia and declare independence. When fighting erupted between Croatian armed forces and the Yugoslav Federal army, Germany openly championed the Croatian cause and promoted the recognition of Croatian independence. Despite serious reservations by fellow EU members, Germany’s will prevailed….

The recognition of Croatian independence changed the nature of the conflict. The secessionist Croats suddenly acquired sovereign legitimacy while the federalist Serbs became rebels in their ancestral land. Subsequently, they were treated as such by the international community.
…
In April 1990, when Franjo Tudjman and his Croatian Democratic Party came to power in Croatia with an undisguised platform of separation from Yugoslavia, the Serbian population in Croatia had cause for concern. Tudjman’s party had resurrected many of the old Ustashi symbols and slogans and made it clear it was not interested in treating the Serbs as equals. A new constitution was enacted that designated Serbs as a minority group and hundreds were dismissed from their jobs; others were forced to sign a loyalty oath to the Zagreb regime.

The Serbian regions of Croatia had no desire to separate from Yugoslavia in favor of living under their slayers and, fearing a repetition of what had happened to their forefathers fifty years before, formed an autonomous region. When Croatia declared independence in May 1991 armed clashes broke out and the Yugoslav army intervened on behalf of the Serbian federalists.

Fighting was only brought to an end in January 1992 when President Milosevic of Serbia and President Tudjman signed a ceasefire leading to a United Nations peace plan and the creation of four “Protected Areas” in the Serbian parts of Croatia. With some exceptions the ceasefire was generally respected and few major engagements occurred.

However, during the next two and a half years, the United States openly supported the Croatian cause and by providing weapons, equipment, training and professional expertise enabled Croatia to build a formidable and modern military force. In May 1995 the new Croat army overran the Serbian region of western Slavonia and on August 4, 1995, aided by US air strikes against Serb positions, launched “Operation Storm” in the historic Serb region of the Krajina — designed, as stated by President Tudjman, to inflict such blows “that the Serbs will to all practical purposes disappear.”

And disappear they did. It is estimated that at least 200,000 Serbs fled Croatia and many of those that did not flee were killed. A European Union monitoring team reported on August 11, 1995 that “…an average of six corpses a day, continues to emerge, some fresh, some decomposed, mainly of old men. Many have been shot in the head or had their throats slit, others have been mutilated.” It would seem the insane violence of the new Ustashi matched that of their predecessors of 1941-45.

Operation storm was described by Carl Bildt, the former UN Special Envoy to the Former Yugoslavia as, “the most efficient ethnic cleansing we’ve seen in the Balkans.” The Serbs were, in effect, abandoned by Slobodan Milosevic, who ordered them not to resist. President Tudjman was the victor and Croatia is still today essentially “Serb-free.”

I’ll have to check my files to see what Kuhner thinks he means by 180,000 Croatians cleansed and 20,000 civilians “murdered” (I believe 20,000 is the overall death toll of the war on both sides), but it’s interesting that 180,000 Croatians count as “cleansed,” but 250,000 Serbs do not. (As we know, those who did not flee — mostly the elderly and disabled — were in fact killed with great enthusiasm.) Back to Kuhner:

Operation Storm put a stop to all of this. Gen. Gotovina’s army launched a U.S.-backed offensive that was a stunning success: Civilian casualties were minimized, the campaign lasted just three days, and the crushing defeat of the rebel [there it is!] Serbs eventually paved the way for the signing of the 1995 Dayton Peace Accords.

A stunning success! Serben-rein in JUST 3 DAYS! The atom bomb in Nagasaki put an end to WWII, and Operation Storm “put a stop to all of this!” — the difference being that the latter conflict was ended in favor of the bellicose party, and evil triumphed.

Moreover, numerous media outlets – The Washington Times, the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and the Jerusalem Post – have investigated Operation Storm and have concluded that Gen. Gotovina is innocent of any wrongdoing. He never personally ordered or tolerated the commission of any crimes. In fact, the ICTY’s prosecution was dismal on this point. It failed to show any kind of proof that Gen. Gotovina was responsible for orchestrating a criminal conspiracy…

Ditto for the Serbs whose convictions and draconian sentencing — on flimsier grounds than Kuhner perceives Gotovina’s to be on — Kuhner hasn’t had a problem with.

The orders to evacuate the Serbian population from the so-called “Krajina” zone of occupation came from Belgrade several days before the commencement of Operation Storm. Milosevic, realizing he was facing a military humiliation, ordered Croatia’s Serbs transferred to Bosnia and Kosovo to consolidate his revanchist gains there. This was done before Croatian forces even launched their campaign.

Indeed, Milosevic was telling the Krajina Serbs to not fight. Just run. Which is why Serbian paramilitary leader “Captain Dragan” wanted to freaking assassinate Milosevic. One certainly wonders how that “order” from Milosevic — who as president of Serbia and not Yugoslavia wasn’t in a position to give Croatian Serbs any “orders” — jibes with Kuhner’s assessment that he was going for a Greater Serbia. If he had been, it’d certainly make the bad blood between him and Captain Dragan all the more head-scratching. As for “realizing he was facing a military humiliation, [Milosevic] ordered Croatia’s Serbs transferred to Bosnia and Kosovo to consolidate his revanchist gains there”: Again, what military humiliation in Croatia could a Serbian president be facing? Kuhner is attributing strategies where there was only retreat, defeat and no will to fight; he’s just coming up with ways to make the unwieldy facts fit his creative interpretation of events — and attributing them all to Milosevic as our ignoramus pop presses do. You think maybe that, more likely than a military defeat, what might have elicited a suggestion that Serbs run for their lives was that the Yugoslavian government got wind of this meeting between Tudjman and his generals — including, of course, Gotovina:

Tudjman is planning the operation [Storm] together with his top military brass… ‘We have to inflict such blows that the Serbs will to all practical purposes disappear.’ …Tudjman explains that, for the benefit of propaganda in the international community, leaflets should be given to Serbian civilians saying, ‘We are appealing to you not to withdraw…This means giving them a way out, while pretending to guarantee civil rights etc.’

(More Croatian planning for ethnic cleansing and murder here.)

Back to the sour Croat:

Hence, the entire Gotovina conviction and prosecution rests on a giant fraud: The removal of the Serbian population occurred under the explicit command of local Serb authorities acting under the authority of Belgrade. Therefore, Croatian forces could not have committed “ethnic cleansing.” The ICTY verdict is a sham.

Ah, so 18 years into the ICTY’s sham existence, the man notices that it’s a sham. Funny, it wasn’t a sham ’til his kin got burned. Anyone who has been following the slanted proceedings (which up ’til now had suited Kuhner just fine), would realize that this verdict is more of an attempt to de-sham, if only for show — so that the Serbs “stop whining” about bias.

The U.N. court is a politicized vehicle that aspires to render history’s final judgment on the Balkan wars of the 1990s. And its verdict is clear: All sides were guilty of atrocities; no party – or nation – was more responsible than the other. This is what Serbia has been demanding for years. It has sought to cover its genocidal culpability and national shame with moral equivalence.

Actually, moral equivalence is as good as can be hoped for, and what the Serbs are settling for. Since the real aggressors (Croats, Bosnian-Muslims, Albanians and Slovenes) — will NEVER be named as such. As for covering one’s genocidal culpability and shame, how’s that apology for exterminating Serbs in WWII coming along, Kuhner? It’s only been 70 years. Take your time.

Of course, when Serbs are accused of ethnic cleansing for busing women, children and elderly out of Srebrenica to safety (as opposed to going “Croatian” on them) this bothers Kuhner not at all. When an Orthodox bishop obliges a request by international forces to bus out Muslim women, children and old people from a town in Herzegovina, and soon after is threatened with getting hauled in for charges of “ethnic cleansing,” no “sham” there, huh, Kuhner? As long as the targets of international “justice” are the same people who were the targets of the Croats, Bosniaks and Albanians, nothing is noticeably askew at Den Haag or its affiliates.

Hence, the Gotovina conviction is a major triumph for Belgrade. Already, Serbian revanchists are claiming that the ICTY’s ruling enables Croatia’s international borders to be altered. Led by the odious Tomislav Nikolic, Belgrade’s nationalists are surging in the polls. They are demanding the restoration of a Greater Serbia. The ICTY has shown them the way forward: If Croatia’s war for independence was a “joint criminal enterprise,” then the entire Croatian state – by that twisted logic – is founded upon war crimes and ethnic cleansing.

And all along, while the Bosnian-Muslims have been doing the exact same thing to de-legitimize Republika Srpska (albeit with less legal standing than exists against the genocidal Croatian state), Kuhner doesn’t notice. Indeed, he no doubt toes his kindred Muslim spirits’ line on that front.

This is why Croatia’s ruling party, the HDZ, should never have sent Gen. Gotovina to The Hague. That it was a precondition for Zagreb’s entry into the European Union only underscores how reckless and contrary to Croatia’s national interests fast-track European Union membership is. The HDZ claims it will help Gen. Gotovina’s legal team with the verdict’s appeal. This is a dollar short and a day late. The ICTY is a kangaroo court determined to make an example out of the Croatian general. His fate is sealed no matter what the Croatian government does – and HDZ leaders know this.

The HDZ regime is fundamentally treasonous. After having won the war, Zagreb is losing the peace. The HDZ has betrayed Gen. Gotovina, the country’s veterans and Croatia’s hard-won [ill-won] independence. It has sold Croatia down the river in a mad dash to appease Brussels. The HDZ must be defeated, swept into the dustbin of history and replaced with a new conservative party – one that will provide voters with a real patriotic-populist option.

TRANSLATION: The supremacist Croats need an even more nationalist option to surge in the polls than what they’ve already got — yet it’s Nikolic who’s the ‘odious nationalist’ and — oh no! — surging in the polls. As for appeasing Brussels, it seems — predictably — that Kuhner can’t handle even a taste of the identity-, security- and freedom-evisceration that the quisling Serbian regime has been serving up for Brussels and Washington for over a decade. Of course, the Croats are Nazis, so they could do with a little identity-evisceration.

Croatians must demand that Zagreb end its unconditional cooperation with the ICTY, withdraw its bid to join the EU, free Gen. Gotovina, have all cases at The Hague transferred to domestic courts and insist that the ICTY stop its assault on Croatia’s territorial legitimacy. In short, it is time to put Croatia first.

Right, because Croatians don’t already put Croatia first, second, and third. They don’t even sleep without thinking about their Croatian-ness. And yes, transfer the cases to that always reliable, impartial Croatian judiciary that’s been holding up its EU bid in the first place. (Though I agree that the EU isn’t a good thing — for anyone in it.)

The ICTY’s ruling has given ultranationalist Serbs what they want: another shot at splintering Croatia. The winds of war are blowing. Handing over Gen. Gotovina to The Hague was a colossal mistake. Zagreb will rue the day.

So the Balkan nation that has been the second-most recalcitrant cooperator with the Hague (Albania/Kosovo gets first place) — and while it’s been good and proper and compulsory that the Serbs cooperate with this sham institution — now needs to remove any and all cooperation. This long-coming, more justifiable target of the Hague gets just the slightest taste of the far more unrelenting persecution by the Hague that its neighbor Serbia has been dealing with for a much longer time, and — big surprise — its supremacist champions can’t handle it.

By the way, put me in a roomful of “ultranationalist Serbs ™” over Croatian “Democrats” any day.

The obvious question remains, but will never be entertained by the likes of Kuhner: Why is it OK for Croatians to defend and celebrate their national heroes-slash-war-criminals as Kuhner does, but that sort of thing gets bad press only when Serbs do it? The latter being at least as “shammily” convicted.

A few excerpts about the lovely Croatia and its systems that Kuhner has so much confidence in:

• War crimes prosecutions need to be brought without regard to ethnicity.
• Croatia should enhance efforts to investigate and prosecute incidents in which ethnic Croats were responsible for crimes against ethnic Serbs.
• Charging standards and sentencing practice should be the same for all defendants, regardless of their ethnic origin. Croatian prosecutors should cease the practice of indicting Serbs for war crimes on the basis of minor offences, where Croats alleged to have committed the same acts are not charged.
• Croatia should not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity in hiring judges. Returnee Serbian judges should not be discriminated against and should have an opportunity for employment in Croatian courts.

Glavas Case Raises Concerns About Croatian Judiciary
(Institute for War and Peace Reporting, Sept. 22, 2006)

…Branimir Glavas, a former general and member of parliament who has been one of the most powerful politicians in Croatia over the past 15 years, is accused of crimes against Serb civilians in Osijek, a city in eastern Slavonia near the border with Serbia, during the Croatian war in 1991.

The Zagreb District Court’s handling of the matter has been criticised as lax….Three months after the investigation into his case began, Glavas is still a free man, despite repeated requests from prosecutors to place him in custody…the accused is impeding the investigation by intimidating witnesses into changing their testimony.

But the Zagreb judge leading the investigation, Zdenko Posavec, has turned down all requests for custody, saying there is no proof that Glavas was behind any threats.

Charges brought against Glavas after a year-long investigation conducted by leading crime scene expert Vladimir Faber include the murder of at least two Serb civilians and the unlawful detention and mistreatment of many others.

The investigation followed claims by Krunoslav Fehir, a former member of a Croatian unit under Glavas’s command, that the general ordered gruesome extrajudicial executions of Serbs in Osijek.

Fehir alleged that Glavas ordered civilians to be imprisoned in his wartime headquarters, the National Defence Secretariat, where they were interrogated, tortured and finally killed. The alleged acts of torture included forcing acid from car batteries down their throats.

Fehir, who was only 16 at the time, admitted taking part in these crimes. He told Croatian investigators that one of the detainees, Cedomir Vuckovic, died shortly after he was forced to drink acid. He said that another Serb who had seen what happened, Djordje Petkovic, was executed on Glavas’s order. Petkovic’s body was never found.

Faber was dispatched from Zagreb to investigate allegations of war crimes in the city, because it had become apparent that the local police force would not be able to do so. The investigation was then shifted from Osijek to Zagreb for the sake of impartiality. [Or, at least, ‘lesser partiality.’]
…
Despite the serious nature of the accusations, there is no sign that Glavas will be arrested any time soon. Investigating judge Zdenko Posavec even allowed Glavas to travel to Germany this summer to watch the football World Cup.

According to police in Osijek, former soldiers who served under Glavas subsequently threatened some of the witnesses, leading the state prosecutor to demand his arrest – with no success.

“The case of Glavas and Fehir causes great concern and raises questions about Croatia’s ability to conduct war crimes investigations efficiently,” said Mary Wyckoff, who heads the law department of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s mission in Zagreb…“The investigative procedure should strengthen the public’s confidence in state institutions responsible for criminal investigations and proceedings. If this procedure is conducted properly, then its results – whatever they are – will be accepted as legitimate,” she explained. [Except that we’re dealing with a Croatian public, and it’s the opposite of impartiality that inspires confidence here.]

Because of the way the whole case has been handled, many observers suggest it has descended into farce.

Several legal experts told IWPR it was “scandalous” that Glavas has been allowed to defend himself as a free man. They argue that there are grounds for immediate detention, specifically the gravity of the allegations and the indications that the accused has used his liberty to influence witnesses.

Several witnesses who were questioned by the investigating judge have already significantly altered the original testimonies they gave to police.

Glavas even threatened some witnesses in the presence of investigative judge Posavec.

Ladislav Bognar, a university professor who was in the area where Glavas was in charge at the time of the events of 1991, says he found himself in an alarming position when he gave a statement to the authorities.

“Since the things I was saying were not really in Glavas’s favour, he attacked me right in front of judge Posavec. He called me a communist bastard and said I would get what I deserved,” said Bognar.

Glavas did not stop there – he launched his own web site on which he started posting witness testimonies. He stopped only when the investigating judge asked him to remove the material from the internet.

But he still used his website and media appearances to insult Faber, the investigating police officer, calling him “an immoral freak” and “human trash”. Nor did he spare other officials, calling State Prosecutor Mladen Bajic “rotten as a rotten tooth” and describing the judiciary as corrupt and politically influenced.

“I would much rather be tried in Banja Luka in Republika Srpska, because their judiciary is much more honest than Croatia’s,” he said in one of his public outbursts. […]

(Meanwhile, the force-feeding of battery acid to Serbs reminds me of the case of Azra Basic, the Kentucky woman whom Kuhner might have become fast friends with if she hadn’t been arrested last month on an Interpol warrant for making Serbs drink gasoline and drink blood from another Serb whose throat she’d slit — and made them eat Yugoslav currency. She also burned Serb faces, made prisoners crawl along broken glass, pulled out teeth and fingernails, cut off ears and enjoyed forehead-carving. One certainly wonders why Kuhner didn’t see fit to speak up in defense of this Croatian heroine.)

Amnesty International on Thursday accused Croatia of failing to prosecute war crimes quickly and impartially, saying many perpetrators of brutalities may never face trial because of the country’s lack of will to investigate its painful history. [By which it means ‘pain-inflicting.’]

Despite promises by the government to aggressively probe war crimes committed during the country’s bloody 1991-1995 ethnic war with Serb rebels, the country only closes 18 cases each year, with about 700 cases yet to be prosecuted and many likely never to come to trial, the human rights watchdog said in a new report.

“Croatia must deal with its past in order to move forward” said Nicola Duckworth, Amnesty’s Europe and Asia director….Though there has been some progress, “justice has been slow in coming and very selective.”

The country has been reluctant to investigate the ethnic Croat majority, with three quarters of the accused being ethnic Serbs, the report said. Public allegations against several senior Croatian political and military officials – including the deputy speaker of parliament, for instance – have not been investigated, it said.
…
“Impunity for war crimes is a stumbling block toward membership” in the EU, Duckworth said.

Croatia long insisted that Serbs were the sole perpetrators of atrocities during the war, which began when the country’s minority Serbs rebelled against Croatia’s independence from Yugoslavia. That stance changed in 2000, when pro-Western governments began launching proceedings against some Croats, resulting in war crimes convictions of at least three senior officials and dozens of soldiers.
“Croatia refuses to hand over general accused of war crimes” (Guardian, Sept. 26, 2002)

Showdown with UN looms after indictment for massacre of Serbs in 1993 is defied

Croatia is engaged in a high-risk showdown with the United Nations war crimes tribunal in the Hague after refusing to hand over a former army chief indicted for war crimes against Serb civilians and wounded soldiers in 1993.

General Janko Bobetko, 83, who has retired, is the oldest person to be indicted by the tribunal and the most senior Croatian official demanded for extradition by the Hague.
…
[President Stipe] Mesic, a supporter of the Hague tribunal and a discreet critic of the Croatian government’s attempts to stall the handover of Gen Bobetko, will find himself presenting evidence against Mr Milosevic while his government is on the brink of breaking off cooperation with the court.

Gen Bobetko has robustly dismissed the charges. He and his many supporters are seeking to paint the indictment of an individual as an assault on Croatia. [See this tactic employed by their Albanian fellow nationalist-supremacists in Kosovo, vis-a-vis the murder-for-organs scandal.]

Army generals are picketing the government on his behalf and the Croatian Catholic church is urging the country to defy the international community.

An opinion poll yesterday found that 84% of Croats backed Gen Bobetko and almost as many favoured abandoning cooperation with the Hague. [One wonders if the other 16% are still breathing.]

The rightwing opposition, heirs to the late authoritarian president, Franjo Tudjman, is demanding constitutional changes to insulate Croats against the tribunal.

So that would place a Washington Times columnist named Jeffrey Kuhner in the category of heir to Franjo Tudjman.

Since the indictment bombshell was dropped last Friday, Gen Bobetko has repeatedly asserted that he will not be taken to the Hague alive.

A parade of prominent supporters [has] visited his luxury villa in Zagreb to demonstrate solidarity.

Although Gen Bobetko has admitted in his memoirs to the key role that his army played beyond Croatia in the 1992-95 war in Bosnia, the charges against him relate to a lightning Croatian army raid in the Medak pocket, south-west of Zagreb, in September 1993.

Serb separatist rebels [sic: the Croats were the separatists; Serbs were the opposite: federalists] had held the area since early in the war in 1991, but were flushed out in a matter of hours. The general did not take part in the battle, but was in overall charge.

The indictment says that scores of houses of Serb civilians were deliberately destroyed and that around 100 Serb civilians and wounded combatants were killed.
…
The former army chief faces charges on five counts of crimes against humanity; he is alleged to have been aware of the unlawful killings in September 1993 and to have done nothing to prevent them or to subsequently call those responsible to account.
…
“No government can challenge an indictment,” said Florence Hartmann, spokeswoman for the chief prosecutor, Carla Del Ponte.

But the government is doing just that, walking a tightrope and anxious to avoid a full-blown political dispute with the Hague while opening “a legal dispute”.

It argues that the events of September 1993 were a legitimate police operation to “combat terrorism” on sovereign and internationally recognised Croatian territory, and that the aim was not “ethnic cleansing” of the indigenous Serb population. [Yet again! Just as in Storm, “ethnic cleansing” wasn’t the aim at all!]

Cardinal Josip Bozanic, the powerful archbishop of Zagreb and the head of the Croatian Catholic church, called on the country yesterday to “unite in the face of the external pressure”.

Which of course brings us to the Croatian Catholic Church. Before announcement of the verdicts this month, the Croatian Catholic Church — and I do mean to differentiate this mutant critter from the Catholic Church at large even if the Vatican is disturbingly reluctant to do so — called on Croatians to fast and pray for acquittals or close to it.

What other church does this? What other church is this inseparable from, and intertwined with, nationhood? And vice versa: what country is this inseparable from the church? What other church involves itself with, and is so invested in, the fate of war criminals?

Unless, of course, we’re talking about Islam and Muslims. Indeed, the fanaticism of the Croatian church comes second only to that much discussed phenomenon.

As a letter by Michael Pravica published in The Washington Times on Monday responded to Kuhner:

…I’m only sorry that more of the guilty weren’t prosecuted for crimes ranging from bombing fleeing columns of refugees, raping and slaughtering elderly grandmothers, beating up Orthodox Christian nuns and trying to hide the grisly evidence after wiping out entire villages with the approval, aid and encouragement of Franjo Tudjman’s government.

The greatest unresolved problem in the Balkans pertains to the largely unreported and uncompensated genocide of Serbian Orthodox Christians, Jews and Roma in Croatia during World War II. Hundreds of thousands of innocents were slaughtered, ethnically cleansed from a “Greater Croatia”…and forcibly converted to Roman Catholicism. Today’s Croatia differs little from the Croatia of that time in its hatred of anything Serbian since the country was never properly de-Nazi- fied…

If Croatia is unable to accept responsibility for crimes committed by its citizens [in both wars], Mr. Kuhner may be correct in asserting that there will be a far more vicious war between Croatia and Serbia.

I close with more from Ambassador Bissett on this point:

Croatia has never acknowledged its role in the Second World War as a loyal ally of the Nazi cause, and its ardent participation in genocide against its Serbian, Jewish and Gypsy (Roma) populations…

When Hitler’s forces invaded Yugoslavia in the spring of 1941, Croatian right wing extremists, under the leadership of Ante Pavelic and his fascist “Ustashi” movement, were given control of Croatia. Pavelic [also a national Croatian hero — just look inside any Croatian Cultural Center anywhere in the world] aligned the country enthusiastically to the Nazi cause and immediately launched a horrific onslaught against the Serbian minority. The official policy was openly expressed. It was: kill one third of the Serbs, convert another third to Catholicism and expel the remaining third from Croatia.

In the early spring and summer of 1941 thousands of innocent Serbs were slaughtered in the most barbaric fashion by Ustashi killers. Serbian orthodox churches were burned and many Serbian communities wiped out. As the war progressed, Serbs, Jews and Gypsies were interned in concentration camps where thousands of victims were slaughtered like animals by having their throats slit or beaten to death by mallets or axes.

The nature of the carnage was so horrific that senior ranking German officers in Croatia, including SS Obergruppenfuhrer Arthur [Phleps], sickened by the slaughter and worried that it was driving Serbians and anti-Ustashi Croats into the ranks of resistance groups, urged Berlin to demand a stop to the slaughter. These protests were in vain and the genocide continued. Senior Italian officers also were appalled at the killing and are on record of not only complaining but frequently offering protection to fleeing victims.

When the war ended and Tito’s communists took command of Yugoslavia, they had no desire to come to terms with or make an accounting of the dreadful events that had taken place in Croatia. Yugoslavia’s slogan was “Brotherhood and Unity.” Every effort was made to bury the past and as Yugoslavia soon became an ally in the Cold War against the Soviet Union, the Western democracies had little interest in exposing the genocide.
…
Twice in the twentieth century Croatia has managed to get away with violating the most basic standards of international human behavior — including genocide — without being called to account. Even today Pavelic and Tudjman are looked upon by many Croatians as national heroes, as are some of the most vicious Ustashi criminals…Crowds at Croatian soccer games and concerts flaunt Ustashi and Nazi symbols and sing old fascist chants and songs. Croatia marks August 5 as a national holiday commemorating the expulsion of the Serbs by “Operation Storm.” Croatians indicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia are also hailed as defenders of the nation…

Croatia needs to purge itself of its dark past. Its prolonged denial of outrageous crimes committed in the 20th century has created what the Croatian exiled writer Dubravka Ugresic has described as a “culture of lies.” […]

Washington Times columnist Jeffrey T. Kuhner is every bit a part of that culture. Indeed, one wonders if the ‘T’ is for Tudjman. When it comes to Croatian supremacism, Kuhner is what’s called a case study. If only the Washington Times editorial board and management could comprehend what is in their house, their blood would freeze. What they have is a ‘colleague’ who is Za Dom, Spremni! Editors, if you don’t know what that means — and naturally you don’t — it’s the WWII Croatian-Nazi slogan “For the Homeland, Ready!” — and your boy Kuhner is.
