Some cat interrupted the Liverpool-Tottenham game today.
The best part of this video is ESPN announcer Ian Darke pointing out, “There was a fox once.”

In this video, an either brazen or oblivious cat walks out onto the field of a live Liverpool-Tottenham English Premier League soccer match.

The crowd cheers in delight and even the coaches can’t help laughing as the cat scurries across the field, stopping about 20 seconds into the video to take a brief rest next to Tottenham goalie Brad Friedel.

Live soccer matches are no stranger to overly enthusiastic fans taking to the field. Though as the announcer notes, “I don’t think that cat is going to handcuff himself to the goalpost, as we saw recently.”

After about half a minute on the field, the cat then trots off “of its own volition” before being gently scooped up over the field barrier by part of the stadium’s security team.

Back in December, a fox was spotted running onto the field during a local Dallas high-school football game. You can watch video of that encounter here.

“Fight of the Century” is the new economics hip-hop music video by John Papola and Russ Roberts at http://EconStories.tv.

According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the Great Recession ended almost two years ago, in the summer of 2009. Yet we’re all uneasy. Job growth has been disappointing. The recovery seems fragile. Where should we head from here? Is that question even meaningful? Can the government steer the economy or have past attempts helped create the mess we’re still in?

In “Fight of the Century”, Keynes and Hayek weigh in on these central questions. Do we need more government spending or less? What’s the evidence that government spending promotes prosperity in troubled times? Can war or natural disasters paradoxically be good for an economy in a slump? Should more spending come from the top down or from the bottom up? What are the ultimate sources of prosperity?

On September the 16th NATO forces, overstepping their UN Security Council (UNSC) mandates, amid tensions on the administrative border between Serbia and the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo, have fired the first shots at bare-handed Kosovo Serbs in the village of Zupce. The Kosovo Serbs have erected barricades, in a life or death situation, to defend themselves against the Muslim Albanian onslaughts which desire to forcefully incorporate northern Kosovo into the US/EU created Republic of Kosovo, an amputated province from the Republic of Serbia. The Albanian police, aided and assisted by NATO’s KFOR, have taken over two border crossings: Jarinje and Brnjak. The Albanian customs officers, aided and abetted by EU’s EULEX mission in Kosovo, have established their control over the border crossings.

UNSC Emergency Session

After debating for hours behind closed doors the UNSC decided to bury its head in the sand. It came out with a timid call for “restraint” by all parties. Russia’s UN ambassador Vitaly Churkin informed the journalists that Russia proposed a brief to-the-point statement that called on “Belgrade, Pristina and all other sides involved to resolve all outstanding problems through dialogue.” Even this benign statement was unacceptable to the Western powers of the US, GB and France despite escalating tensions. Churkin expressed concern that the international peacekeepers appear to be siding with the Albanians. Serbian foreign minister Vuk Jeremic made it clear that the entire EU proposition playing the mediating role in the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade may be put in question. “So this sudden departure from the path of dialogue at the moment when it was beginning to show some promise, in our view, is completely unjustified, unwarranted and very dangerous.”

NATO Statement

NATO’s Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen called the situation “a big setback,” and urged all sides to stay within the framework of dialogue. “Let me be very clear: there can be no turning back. NATO has spent 12 years ensuring stability and security. We will not allow that achievement to be put at risk.” This is a text-book example of Western hypocrisy. NATO has been siding with the Albanians since day 1 in Kosovo in violation of the UNSC Resolution #1244. The so called international community wants Kosovo sovereignty on all of its territory despite the fact that Kosovo Serbs in the north are de-facto already broken away from Albanian-run Kosovo due to parallel institutions and absolute determination not to be harassed by the Albanian criminal gangs in Pristina.

Serbian Kosovo Mayor

On September 16 deputy mayor of Zvecan, Miodrag Acic, visited the UNMIK office in Zvecan to discuss the present crisis. Acic stated that Serbs have clearly defined who they are, born in the Serbian Province of Kosovo and Metohija, not so called Kosovars, with a rich identity of more than 1500 years old and who have a love of their culture, language and traditions. Serbs have survived all of the invasions and occupations which befell them in the last 1500 years. Serbian culture and heritage is all over Kosovo despite the fact that Albanians are trying to destroy it. He pointed out to a lack of toponyms, whose origins could be found in the Albanian language. There are, however, Islamic and Turkish toponyms due to the 500 year occupation. Now the Kosovo Albanians with help from US/NATO, with disproportional use of force, are trying to steal our history, our toponyms, our land, our language and are making the last try to expel of us. Acic pointed out and named international officers who side with the Albanians and disregard international law and use instead the Kanun of Leke Dukagjini, set of traditional Albanian codes.

Acic went on: “The situation of our Serbian brothers in the south is difficult, they are being harassed by the Albanian Police, when they go to the Public institutions the Albanians disregard them, ignore them and insult them, there is no Serbian curriculum in their schools, there are no returns because there is an ongoing intimidation campaign against the Serbs, they are surrounded by Albanians who cut their electricity, the water, the services to make them accepting Kosovo Albanian institutions, under the eyes of NATO, international NGOs that are supposed to defend the human rights as they say, they all were compliances and even worst implementers of the Albanian racist policies.” Indeed who cares about the plight of not yet ethnically cleansed 100,000 plus Kosovo Serbs? Do they care in Washington, Brussels or even Belgrade?

Belgrade (Vichy Serbia) and Kosovo Serbs

In my June 13 Modern Tokyo Times article Vichy Serbia Sends War Hero to his Death, I have explained the term Vichy Serbia I have been using. It stands for the current Serbian government which follows the Vichy France model. They have become vassals or quislings supported by mentors in Washington and Brussels. They desperately want their capital to be Brussels rather than Belgrade. President Tadic has for years been brainwashing the Serbs to believe that Serbia has no alternative but to join the EU even if Serbia has to wait until 2019 or 2021. In a recent speech he corrected himself somewhat that Serbia has no “better” alternative. I have been arguing for years now that a “better” alternative is an association with the BRIC countries. South Africa has done it this year.

In order not to jeopardize the EU membership aspirations, the Vichy Serbia is gradually abandoning 100,000 plus Kosovo Serbs. Of course they have to be careful as 2012 is the election year. Hence, they are hoping to obtain the EU candidate status this year without recognizing Kosovo but are fully aware that they would have to do it in order to become members. The Belgrade political elite sees themselves as Europeans, not Serbs, as illustrated at a September 14-16 security conference called Balkan and Global Security in Belgrade which was opened by president Tadic and sponsored by the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence, Belgrade Center for Security Policy and the European Movement in Serbia.

Russian Ambassador: “Are there any Serbs in this Room”

Russian ambassador to Belgrade Aleksandar Konuzin asked for permission to speak at the above mentioned security conference after the Russian Federation was characterized as a destabilizing factor in the Balkans, which defends Serbia by pursuing own interests. This factor was edited out by 90% of the Belgrade regime media, which characterized the ambassador as a scandal-master.

Ambassador Konuzin said he was puzzled that at this moment, when KFOR/EULEX were transporting the Albanian police and customs officers in violation of the UNSC Resolution #1244 and November 1998 decision, not a single question addressed that issue. “Are there any Serbs in this room? Do you care about the destiny of your compatriots? Russia will defend your national interests together with your foreign minister, while NATO and EU countries will be opposing your national interests. You couldn’t care less for what is happening in your country. Not a single question.” Konuzin said that Russia has interests but who doesn’t but then he recalled that Russian volunteers came to defend Serbia in 1999 without the approval of the Russian government.

In Belgrade the phones were ringing off the hook to praise the ambassador after the patriotic Serbs figured out what transpired at the conference. The internet pages of the Serbian media were inundated with comments praising the ambassador. On Facebook I thanked the ambassador and asked Russia to continue protecting the Kosovo Serbs as the Vichy government in Belgrade will not.

Second Kristallnacht in Kosovo?

In many of my writings, including the book Kosovo is Serbia, I have quoted Mary Walsh’s book Hiding Genocide in Kosovo: A Crime against God and Humanity. Is another genocide or ethnic cleansing of Kosovo Serbs in the making? According to the Frankfurter Algemeine Zeitung the Bundeswehr is sending two armored vehicles with a water gun to follow in order to remove the Serbian barricades. Serbian political analyst Milovan Drecun claims, perhaps alarmingly, that Albanian ROSU special forces are being deployed and that the American Apache helicopters are being ready for action. Eye-witnesses have localized 80 mercenaries from Albania and Macedonia. These sounds like the second round of the Kosovo Kristallnacht, the first took place in March of 2004?

Breaking: The secret report from Council of Europe on Turkish atrocities in Cyprus during their 1974 invasion has been recovered. This report documents the systematic and extensive human rights violations perpetrated by the Turkish army against the Greek Cypriot population, raping an murdering thousands in order to force a mass exodus and an ethnic cleansing of the northern third of Cyprus. Turkey has never been held responsible for these atrocities and, in spite of all principles of international law, is still permitted to be in control of the fruits of their 1974 aggression, the so-called Turkish Republic of North Cyprus.

Unfortunately, the report linked at Europe news, called “Cyprus Barbary” is not available if all you have is a dial-up connection. Or maybe not so “unfortunately”. Zenster kindly looked at it for me and says it’s dense diplo-speak which lowers your IQ as you attempt to read it. Clever, those bureaucrats.

As far as atrocities go, it would appear that Turkey is never held responsible for any of them, and pays no consequences for its arrogant denials about those million Armenians. It will be the same for the Cypriots.

Funny how it feels free to lecture Israel while it kills Christians and persecutes the Kurdish population in Turkey. Not to mention Turkey’s Kurdish Christians. Oy vey!

“Turkey” plus “atrocity” plus “denial” often end up in the same sentence when the subject turns to Erdogan’s country. He’s just maintaining an old cultural tradition.

This Is London: The unholy past of the Muslim cleric demanding the Pope’s execution

…This week he stood outside Westminster Cathedral in central London to call for the execution of the Pope as punishment for ‘insulting Islam’. He fulminated against Pope Benedict XVl, adding: “Whoever insults the message of Mohammed is going to be subject to capital punishment.”

It’s a long way from his days as a medical student at Southampton University, where, friends say, he drank, indulged in casual sex, smoked cannabis and even took LSD. He called himself ‘Andy’ and was famed for his ability to drink a pint of cider in a few seconds.

One former acquaintance said: “At parties, like the rest of us, he was rarely without a joint. The morning after one party, I can remember him getting all the roaches (butts) from the spliffs we had smoked the night before out of the ashtrays, cutting them up and making a new one out of the leftovers.

“He would say he was a Muslim and was proud of his Pakistani heritage, but he did-n’t seem to attend any of the mosques in Southampton, and I only knew of him having white girlfriends. He certainly shared a bed with them.”

On one occasion, ‘Andy’ and a friend took LSD together. The friend said: “We took far too much and were hallucinating for 20 hours.”

The only sign of religious fervour came in flashes of anger over Salman Rushdie’s The Satanic Verses. A friend from that time said: “You didn’t want to get him started on that. He would go on and on about the fatwa and he supported calls for the book to be banned. But he would have a glass of cider in his hand when he was carrying on about it.”

Choudary failed his first-year exams, switched from medicine to commercial law and did his final year as a law student at Guildford, from 1990 to 1991, before moving to London.

There his legal career stalled briefly and he filled in his time by teaching English as a foreign language in one of the many colleges off Oxford Street.

But eventually, he found a position with a firm of solicitors and began completing his qualifications to become a lawyer. His personal life blossomed too.

In 1996, aged 29, he married Rubana Akhtar and started a family. The couple, who settled in East London, have a daughter aged eight, and sons aged six and one.

Then he met the cleric Sheik Omar Bakri Mohammed at a mosque in Woolwich. Bakri, who is now banned from returning to Britain from Lebanon, had formed Al Muhajiroun, committed to the creation of a worldwide Islamic state, and Choudary quickly became a leading light in the group and its successor organisation, Al Ghurabaa.

He is no longer a practising solicitor and has left his wife and children to concentrate on his extreme brand of Islam. It was Choudary who organised the Danish Embassy protests over the cartoons of the prophet Mohammed earlier this year, at which demonstrators dressed as suicide bombers and banners proclaimed: ‘Behead Those Who Insult Islam’.

He lauded the September 11 hijackers as ‘magnificent martyrs’ and praised Asif Hanif, the British suicide bomber who killed three in Tel Aviv in 2003.

After the July 7 atrocities in London, he vowed he would not tell the police if he knew a terror attack was being planned and urged Muslims to defend themselves against perceived attacks by ‘whatever means they have at their disposal’.

His shocking pronouncements could be dismissed by some as the rantings of a mind clouded by religious fervour but Choudary has an audience and, at a time of increasing disaffection among young British Muslims, his activities are carefully monitored by Special Branch.

A security source said: “He is not seen as premier league because he is so conspicuous. He is seen as an irritant but with a potential to inspire impressionable youngsters to go that one stage further.”

Despite his hatred of all things British – he says: “If British means adopting British values, then I don’t think we can adopt British values. I’m a Muslim living in Britain. I have a British passport, but that’s a travel document to me” – he and his family live on state benefits.

Rubana is said by friends to claim £1,700 a month in housing benefit and income support while Choudary has also claimed £202 a month in income support.

Do you still think it’s about trying to win their hearts and minds?

It’s about remaining alert, prepared, vigilant and stronger than they are because that’s all that’s stopping them from doing us more harm. They hate us for who we are and our freedoms, not for what we do. Let’s don’t be Neville Chamberlain trying to talk Hitler out of his mad attempt to conquer the world.

They burn our flag and threaten us as we solemnly commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Are you convinced yet that Islam considers itself at war with us whether or not we consider ourselves at war with Islam? These are not fringe radicals. They are the future of the USA if we lose heart to resist.

Walsall man arrested for wearing balaclava dons burkha to court

A PROLIFIC thief arrested for wearing a balaclava and gloves arrived at court in a burkha to protest his innocence.

Posing for pictures outside Cannock Magistrates Court, Walsall man David Holmes said: “I’m not against the burkha, it’s the principle. Why can I wear this and not a balaclava?

“It’s the same thing. The police only arrested me because of my previous convictions. They are abusing their powers,” he added…
