Please email, tweet, post on Facebook or on your own blog!

This is just a history lesson. I am sending it to all regardless of party. It is history and nothing can change it. All Americans should pass this on to everyone in their database. Both parties need to cut expenses, both parties have some blame, but this is truly what happened and Americans need to wake up and take our country back in 2012!!

REMEMBER JAN. 3, 2007

The day the Democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009, it was January 3rd 2007, the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, the start of the 110th Congress. The Democratic Party gained a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is “Bush’s Fault,” think about this:

January 3rd, 2007, the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress:

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77

The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%

The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

George Bush’s Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION!

Remember that day…

January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?

BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!

THANK YOU DEMOCRATS (especially Barney) for taking us from 13,000 DOW, 3.5% GDP and 4.6% Unemployment…to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!

(BTW: Bush asked Congress 17 times to stop Fannie & Freddie – starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy). Barney blocked it and called it a “Chicken Little Philosophy” (and the sky did fall!)

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA

And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie?
OBAMA and the Democrat Congress, especially BARNEY!!!!

So when someone tries to blame Bush…
REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007…THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!

Bush may have been in the car but the Democrats were in charge of the gas pedal and steering wheel they were driving the economy into the ditch.

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democratic Party.

Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 & 2011.

In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases. Bush should have vetoed every bill that came in front of his desk!

For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budget.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009. Let’s remember what the deficits looked like during that period:

If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets.

If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself.

In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is, “I inherited a deficit that I voted for,
And then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th, 2009.”

There is no way this will be widely publicized unless each of us passes it on.

“The problems we face today exist because the people who WORK for a living are outnumbered by those who VOTE for a living.”

Comments [on the YouTube page] are now closed due to over 100 racist, hate-filled, profane and utterly disgusting comments from liberals who felt it their “duty” to defecate all over this video clip with their immaturity and inability to read simple English. Not one single liberal managed to speak intelligently without using profanity, racist comments or just trying to incite a flame war. And of the 80+ comments posted, I also had to delete 8 from conservatives who also used profanity – which I will not allow on here.

Sorry gang but the immaturity of hundreds means you all will have to understand that people can’t read English and can’t make an intelligent argument without using profanity and/or racism.

The Mainstream Media Buries Every Negative Story about Barack Hussein Obama

They’ll bury it and they’ll keep it buried, even when they have all of the proof on video. Under the US Constitution, our free press has the right (and, arguably, the duty) to expose public as well as private wrongdoing. Instead, our mainstream media organizations have become consolidated into a small, closed, wealthy clique that opposes and flouts the beliefs and values of most of its audience. They support and protect hard-left/pro-jihadi/radical-environmental (“red-green-green”) politicians and causes – especially Obama and his policies – while trying its hardest to clear the GOP field of any conservative strong enough to unseat him.

What story is being buried? It’s Barack and Michelle Obama’s longtime association and close friendship with former PLO operative and rabid anti-Semite, Rashid Khalidi.

American Thinker: A GOP Candidate’s Bitter Ex-Wife Receives More Coverage Than a Video of Obama Dining with Terrorist-Supporters

(h/t: Diane)

By Lauri B. Regan
[...]
However, of greater importance in my view is the silence, save for a few journalists and pundits on the right, regarding exposing a videotape recorded in 2003 of Barack Obama at the farewell dinner for terrorist-supporting Palestinian Rashid Khalidi. News of the videotape’s existence came to light while Obama was a candidate, and the free pass given to him by the mainstream media was only just beginning to come to light when the enamored Chris Matthews’ shared news of the tingle up his leg.
[...]
But there is a videotape sitting in the vaults of the Los Angeles Times, and every American should be screaming from the rooftops for its release. In light of the Arab Spring, Obama’s endless attempts to bully Israel into succumbing to all sorts of unprecedented and unsafe demands in the hopes that he would go down in history as the POTUS who made peace between the Israelis and Palestinians, and the administration’s ineptness in addressing Iran’s nuclear program and military threats, exposing this videotape is of utmost importance.

In April 2010, Roger L. Simon published an article on PajamasMedia entitled, “Why is the L.A. Times Burying the Obama/Khalidi Tape?” Of further consequence is why the media — and Americans — are not demanding that the L.A. Times immediately release the tape. Simon wrote:

The Khalidi tape could be of tremendous significance in revealing the provenance of Obama’s views on the Middle East and the degree to which the public was misled on those views during the presidential campaign[.] …

So what are we to think? We have an administration that not only ascribes most of the Middle East blame to Israel, but also has banned “Islamism” and all related words, even “Islam” and “jihad” from our national security documents. They’re completely gone. Indeed, even the Fort Hood massacre, so clearly inspired by Islamic extremism, has now been shifted into the comfortable category of the lone, angry killer. Rashid Khalidi should be happy. And, in fact, he is.

Sometimes I want to yell and scream. What is wrong with the Los Angeles Times? Are they a news organization or the propaganda wing of some leftover unit of the IWW? No wonder subscribers are deserting them in droves.

While I am sure that Simon’s questions were rhetorical, I will answer the obvious. Of course the paper is a propaganda tool. Were it not for the internet and cable television, true news organizations would no longer exist. It was recently reported that Jerusalem Post editor Steve Linde quoted Bibi Netanyahu calling The New York Times and Haaretz Israel’s two main enemies because “they set the agenda for an anti-Israel campaign all over the world.” Netanyahu denies making this exact statement, but there is no question that both papers’ reporting reflects a bias that can be characterized only as anti-Israel propaganda. Taken a step further, there is no question that the mainstream media as a whole has become completely entrenched in propaganda, bias, anti-Israel and anti-American sentiment, and indoctrination based on liberal, progressive values that are completely out of the “mainstream.”

The public will never understand that the Islamists taking over the Mideast are not moderate, will not promote democracy, are not friends of the United States, and wish the ultimate destruction of the West if the public reads and relies upon only The New York Times, L.A. Times, MSNBC, or similar tools of the left for its “news” and information. Americans will not understand the implications of four more years of a pro-Islamist president if they do not understand what Islamism is all about. And they will not know who is sitting in the White House making policy decisions based on personal biases if the media continues to promote Obama’s agenda rather than investigate and report.

So why is the videotape of such paramount importance? Simon quotes from an article published in the L.A.Times discussing the tape and its contents:

[A] young Palestinian American recited a poem accusing the Israeli government of terrorism in its treatment of Palestinians and sharply criticizing U.S. support of Israel. If Palestinians cannot secure their own land, she said, “then you will never see a day of peace.”

One speaker likened “Zionist settlers on the West Bank” to Osama bin Laden, saying both had been “blinded by ideology.”

Furthermore, rumors abound regarding additional messages that may or may not have been openly shared at the dinner in Obama’s presence. Ted Belman reported at Israpundit that he has a reliable source that “the audio tape clearly picks up the toast ‘death to Israel’.” Did Obama drink to the death of an American ally that he has been actively intimidating, browbeating, and dissing since he phoned Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on his first day in office? Does Obama liken Israelis living in the West Bank to Osama bin Laden, whose death he claims as his greatest foreign policy accomplishment?

Simon concluded his article with a request that readers send in suggestions on how to make the contents of the tape public. Apparently Donald Trump missed this request when he wasted the media’s energy pushing for the release of Obama’s birth certificate — something with which Obama is still having fun as he mocked the birthers at the Golden Globe awards last week.

But I highly doubt that the POTUS, who had his worldview formed while sitting in the pews of Israel-bashing Jeremiah Wright and at the dinner table of anti-Semite Khalidi, will be mocking people who care enough to properly vet his credentials by urging the release of the tape. And I venture a guess that if the videotape is released, Barack Obama will be packing his bags at the end of this year. But that is a big “if” because until the media stops obsessing over the infidelities of the GOP candidates and starts doing its job, Barack Obama’s chances of a second term continue to scare the living daylights out of those who understand its implications.

Read it all here.

On July 3, 2008 — the day before Independence Day — Barack Obama said that adding $4 trillion in debt was irresponsible and “unpatriotic.

Obama: The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion for the first 42 presidents – #43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back — $30,000 for every man, woman and child. That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic.

Obama to Seek Third Debt Ceiling Increase Since Summer Deal

The Obama administration will ask Congress to raise the nation’s borrowing limit by $1.2 trillion this week, marking the third and final increase from a deal negotiated over summer.

Treasury officials say the increase will boost the nation’s borrowing limit to $16.4 trillion. Treasury officials say the increase is necessary because the nation will be within $100 billion of the current limit by Friday.

In August, Congress and the administration agreed to raise the borrowing limit by $2.1 trillion in three steps. The parties also agreed to cut more than $2 trillion from the deficit over the next 10 years.

Congress can reject the increase, though Obama can then veto their objection. If Congress doesn’t act by Jan. 14, the increase will take place automatically.

Allow me to propose a new political activist group.

As we all know, among the many dangers that menace the US in the run-up to the 2012 US presidential elections are not only ghost voters and other forms of vote fraud, but also outright voter intimidation by uniformed, billy-club-wielding members of the “New Black Panther Party.” Voters whose complexion did not match that of the thugs were, ahem, discouraged from participating in the election.

As for myself, I’m Serbian-American, and that means European. When the census taker came around, she automatically marked “White” for my race. Of course, that’s just a customary term; we are not the color of new-fallen snow. Most of us have skin tones that are some shade of pink through beige.

What we are concerned about here is not race or skin color itself, but our rights as citizens to use the polling places without our heads being bashed in.

Like to get down in the trenches and mix it up?

So do I.

How do we go about it? What do we call ourselves?

Calling ourselves “White Panthers” wouldn’t work. Ill-wishers would immediately seize upon the word “white” to smear us as white supremacists. Those with long memories might mistake us for an even older version of the “Gray Panthers” leftist movement of some decades ago. And given that panthers are a dark (melanistic) phase of leopards, “white panther” seems almost an oxymoron.

Considering that some of us who want to be able to vote have pink skin, I have a better idea, or at least a funnier one. I love me some street theater, as long as it’s OUR side putting on the show for a change!

How about we all rent or make some Pink Panther costumes, call ourselves the “New Pink Panthers,” and assemble near the embattled polling places in such numbers that billy-club-wielding thugs will find themselves outnumbered? The padding and fur on the costumes would help to cushion and deflect any bumps and bruises. And you certainly don’t have to be “white” (dermatologically speaking) to put on the costume and join us. You just have to believe in the US Constitution, the laws of your State, and the right to vote.

Here’s what happened last time around, in 2008:

You may wonder why I’m thinking about this just now. This is why:

Andrew Breitbart: Shock Photos: Barack Obama With New Black Panther Party on Campaign Trail in 2007

New photographs obtained exclusively by BigGovernment.com reveal that Barack Obama appeared and marched with members of the New Black Panther Party as he campaigned for president in Selma, Alabama in March 2007.

The photographs, captured from a Flickr photo-sharing account before it was scrubbed, are the latest evidence of the mainstream media’s failure to examine Obama’s extremist ties and radical roots.

In addition, the new images raise questions about the possible motives of the Obama administration in its infamous decision to drop the prosecution of the Panthers for voter intimidation.

The images, presented below, also renew doubts about the transparency of the White House’s guest logs–in particular, whether Panther National Chief Malik Zulu Shabazz is the same “Malik Shabazz” listed among the Obama administration’s early visitors…

More here.

A firefighter says he is in hot water with his department after his supervisors noticed his anti-Obama bumper stickers and banned him from parking inside the firehouse based on his political views.

“It’s freedom of speech as far as I’m concerned,” Hartford, Conn., firefighter Mike Di’Giacomo told WFSB-TV. “This is my personal vehicle.”

Di’Giacomo has worked for the fire department for 10 years. He said a supervisor noticed his stickers and told him he could not park his SUV inside the firehouse, something his fellow firefighters are allowed to do.

The bumper stickers read:

Somewhere in Kenya, a village is missing its idiot.

What’s all the fuss about?

December 20, 2010 is the sesquicentennial of the adoption of the Ordinance of Secession of the State of South Carolina, featuring the display of the Ordinance of Secession and a Secession Ball in Charleston. Any attempt by those disfavored by the leftist elite—such as white Southern Americans—to celebrate their own heritage, predictably brings the self-anointed enforcers of “political correctness” [click here to view all posts on that topic] out of the woodwork in force. As always, the false accusation of “Racism!” is their weapon of choice.

Then, as now, an elaborate pretense of concern for the downtrodden soon becomes nothing more than a tool for the centralized government to use for impoverishing and enslaving everyone of all races.

South Carolina’s Original Ordinance of Secession on Display

As part of its commemoration of the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War, The Charleston Museum is pleased to announce it will exhibit South Carolina’s original Ordinance of Secession on Monday, December 20. This date marks the 150th anniversary of the signing of the document in Charleston. In the Ordinance, the state declared that the union existing between it and the other states was dissolved. South Carolina had seceded from the United States.

The Confederate Heritage Trust, which scheduled the dance in Charleston near where the secession document was signed, says it wants to honor the Southern men who were willing to sacrifice their lives for their homes and their vision of states’ rights. Guests will have a chance to see the original Ordinance of Secession, which has been preserved by the state.

Leaders of the NAACP say it makes no sense to honor men who committed treason against their own nation for the sake of a system that kept black men and women in bondage as slaves.

As the Charleston event kicks off more than four years of 150th anniversary Civil War commemorations, it also frames persisting questions. Chief among them: How does a nation remember the time when 11 of its states tried unsuccessfully to break away?

The $100-a-person Secession Ball falls on one end of the spectrum. It is partly sponsored by the Sons of Confederate Veterans, whose central purpose is to preserve the history and legacy of the South’s “citizen-soldiers.”

A most unlikely source of truth

It is an interesting development in the marketplace of truth to see Fox News and CNBC constantly at war. In a funny way, it forces out the truth. Ironically, more of the truth that I need to find seems to worm its way out through CNBC, especially from their half-witted “anchor” Keith Olbermann on his week-night show, Countdown.

No, I don’t think that Olbermann has any intention of revealing the truth to movement conservatives, libertarians, or Tea Partiers. He is merely trying to energize his old-line, hardcore Communist base. Made up to look like a talking corpse, Olbermann, on his show, dons the trappings of mid-1950s left-wing extremism. Using ancient versions of the NBC Peacock and recycling the music and news rhetoric of the time, I would not be surprised if he flashed over to old, grainy footage of an “embedded reporter” ready to interview a young Fidel Castro hidden away in the Cuban hillside with his Brigade troops.

While Fox News dances around the records of the candidates that they favor, which makes them look far too middle-of-the-road for the bulk of Americans who are trying to identify and support the opponents of big government, Olbermann inadvertently reveals some of the data that these voters are seeking. For example, when was the last time that Fox News disclosed any of their guests’ positions that support either pro-life or pro-Second Amendment views? Olbermann, on the other hand, is quick to label anyone who values human life as “anti-abortion”—which helpfully lets us know that they are pro-life and therefore deserve our support in that regard.

Take My Stand to Live and Die in Dixie

Early this December, Olbernmann graciously informed us of the December 20 sesquicentennial celebration of secession in Charleston, South Carolina. South Carolina was the first State to leave the Union and reestablish itself as in an independent sovereign entity. Of course, Olbermann’s spin amounted to over-simplified Yankee propaganda that might have sufficed for a third-grade class, but was an insult to the American public.

However, Olbermann is a dyed-in-the-wool Stalinsque (or Hitlersque, take your pick) totalitarian. His show, Countdown, is dedicated to promoting left-wing totalitarianism. In the dishonorable tradition of Pot, Meet Kettle, Olbermann disingenuously bandies about words like “treason”, “slavery”, “racism,” and the like.

What was secession really about?

In 1860, would the mainstream pillars of the community in South Carolina have openly engaged in what they considered to be an act of treason? Unlike the misfits, malcontents, and ne’er-do-wells from which the likes of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara drew upon to form the radical band of Cuban guerrillas that the Keith Olbermanns of the mid-twentieth century so openly supported, the delegates in antebellum South Carolina had every reason to believe that law and custom were on their side. On December 20, 1860, the mainstream people of South Carolina merely left the union in the same orderly manner by which they had originally joined it.

We must remember that the peculiar institution was legal in 1860. A major position of the citizenry in the newly-elected Republican regime was in favor of preserving the status quo in regards to existing State laws in that regard. Besides, the precedent for using federal law to override long-standing State law was all but nonexistent at that time. Oh, I am sure that there were a few people—with crystal balls in hands—who envisioned what we would call a “slippery slope” leading to federally-mandated abolition of chattel slavery in the next thirty to fifty years. Because so few Americans had bonded servants, chattel slavery was not a major issue to most Americans. Nor would it have occurred to very many Americans of that era to take the radical step of ending chattel slavery, or for that matter, making any other major change to the fabric of society, through federal legislation. There was simply no precedent for that degree of centralization.

Racism? From a historical viewpoint, that epithet does not even pass the straight-face test. What we call “racism” today would have been the norm throughout North America and Europe. Perhaps a few of the most radical and secular humanistic abolitionists could have passed for “non-racist” in modern society—unless, of course, someone asked them whether they would “want their daughter to marry one.”

What’s wrong with the new President from Illinois?

The winner of the last presidential election was a tall, thin, fast-taking Illinois lawyer. He had gotten national attention when he ran for the US Senate. He had been a known quantity; as a seeming shoo-in for his party’s nomination, he had shown his true radical colors to anyone willing to take notice. Just to put icing on the cake, despite the fact that that this particular nogoodnick was not someone the American people would support, the former frontrunner for the presidency—a proven tyrant—was given position of Secretary of State, the highest unelected position in the federal government.

The people of South Carolina felt totally disenfranchised. Their only opportunity seemed to be finding a way to opt out of that new administration. Hmm, is the reader doing a double take? Did the author say “1860 election” or “2008 election”? Are we talking about the Tea Party, or about the secessionists of a much earlier era?

So why did South Carolina decide to secede?

While issues were many, then as now, for most South Carolinians, the top issues were:

1. High taxes;
2. High taxes; &
3. High taxes!

In 1860, the nasty federal tax was known as a “tariff.” It was an extremely high tax imposed on goods imported to the United States. American-made manufactured goods, the vast majority of which came from the north, went untaxed; only the higher quality and more expensive goods that were imported from Europe were burdened with this extra cost.

In the North, these tariffs were viewed as a tax on the rich who could easily afford it. It was seen as a way of redistributing the wealth. Yankee factories could put out products at a more competitive price. Northern politicians used the money for the social spending of the day, which included make-work infrastructure projects, such as subsidized railroads, almost exclusively located in the North.

As always, this tax-the-rich scheme was anything but that in practice. The South was an agricultural society, but not in the way that you might envision. Yes, we hear so much about those few big plantations. We hear so much about the large cotton crops of the day. In truth, the vast majority of Southerners were yeoman farmers who lived off the land. Most yeoman farmers owned NO slaves; those who did, owned just a few. They hunted and fished and worked the land as subsistence farmers. The one thing they needed most, and could not produce for themselves, was high-quality farming equipment and other industrial products from Europe.

But that ran into the nasty tariff. While the large cotton plantation might have enough cash reserves to weather the storm of higher tariffs, this was not true of the small yeoman farmer, who had much less cash to operate with. If the price of tools and other manufactured necessities rose 50%, it could wipe out all of his liquid cash and then some. This would have had a devastating effect on small merchants who served the yeoman farming community, as well as other businesses and professions servicing the average Southerner. In addition, the high tariff on imported industrial products cut off foreign competition, allowing northern industrialists to charge far more for the products that they sold to the South.

Ironically, in the case of the larger plantations, the eventual alternative to slave labor would have been mechanization—the very thing that the high tariffs priced out of reach.

Clearly, high taxes and runaway federal government spending are nothing new. Likewise, everyday people in South Carolina who take exception to this federal tyranny also have deep roots. But then, the winners always write the history books (at least for the next century or two), and Yankee lies about the motives of those who struggle for freedom are nothing new.

Do those who hate the South have any point at all?

Ever since the Emancipation Proclamation, haters of the South, such as Keith Olbermann, have tried to argue that War Between the States was nothing more than a referendum on slavery. The fact is that, before the Emancipation Proclamation, the Yankee government consistently denied that slavery played any role in their ruthless invasion of the South.

Well, let’s see! Many of the top Confederate government and military leaders were open advocates of releasing bonded servants. Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and James Longstreet were three noteworthy examples. And we are not talking about idle words. Jefferson Davis adopted an African-American as his son. Robert E. Lee released all his slaves, all of which he had inherited. So, the President of the Confederacy and the two top generals in the Army would be willing to prosecute a war to undermine their own heartfelt beliefs? I think not!

Those who actually went out and fought for the Confederacy, for the most part, agreed that they were not fighting a war to preserve slavery. Only a few of them saw it as a factor, albeit a secondary factor, in their motivation to fight.

Many African-Americans (both bonded and free) served in the Confederate military, some in actual combat roles. Clearly, those who did not serve, but stayed behind to work in agriculture, commerce, transportation, and manufacturing, surely knew they were helping the Southern war effort. Those who stayed must have had some reason to prefer a Southern victory.

The list goes on and on. Nonetheless, there was one problem with secession. There was one small, but important, group of people who could have derailed secession, and who might have had the motivation to do so.

The safe bet for the delegates

In 1860, there were a number of people who did worry about the consequences of the eventual abolition of slavery. While the group was small, its members did have considerable wealth and political influence, and they were part of the upper crust of society that had the time and the means to serve in the state government at that time. While other Southern issues may have influenced them, there were a few vocal supporters of the peculiar institution who might have done most anything to have their pro-slavery position cemented into a constitutional amendment.

Presumably, they would have loved to have a President that would support such an amendment. Perhaps some of them would eventually have sided with Yankee interests—for the time being—so as to etch their precious peculiar institution in stone. But where could they have found such a pro-slavery leader? Where would they have looked?

Stumped? Sorry, but this is a trick question. The new President-elect was surprisingly very pro-slavery.

Yes, Abraham Lincoln not only had slave-owning relatives, but he even favored his own Constitutional Amendment preserving slavery in every State where it was currently being practiced. Don’t believe me? OK, but read his inauguration speech first. Either Honest Abe was a serious liar or he intended his version of the 13th Amendment to preserve, NOT to outlaw, slavery.

The price that Lincoln demanded for this devil’s bargain was for the South to agree to the high tariffs on imported goods.

Keeping secession on track

So, how could the anti-tax and limited-government secessionist movement, which actually did elevate some emancipation-minded Southerners to power, have managed to garner and retain the support of those who feared such radical changes to their society? Well, the secessionists could allay their fears by agreeing to keep the peculiar institution intact for a while. But that raises the perennial question: how much can anyone trust the promises of a few politicians?

Putting it in writing

Let us look at the way South Carolinians thought at that time, not knowing what their future would be. While I seriously doubt that, back in 1860, very many people expected America to enter the 20th Century with the peculiar institution still intact, with or without a constitutional amendment keeping it in place, emancipation was not something that these fire-eaters were prepared to deal with anytime soon. For that reason, they needed some written assurance that their point of view would be part of South Carolinian (and Southern) secession.

Thus, woven into the “declarations of causes which justify the secession of South Carolina from the federal union,” a report written by a committee of delegates, were denunciations of northern interference with the institution of chattel slavery. This report was the document that Keith Olbermann and some others have evidently confused with the Articles of Secession.

No language regarding the motives for secession appeared in the Articles themselves. Closely tracking the standards set forth in the Declaration of Independence some 84 years earlier, the actions of the convention both satisfied the principles of Thomas Jefferson and alleviated the fears of those who feared that the secessionist movement might become the new Southern radical abolitionist movement.

This was not much of a move when you consider that Lincoln was, at that time, offering them a constitutional amendment to preserve slavery in return for staying in the union and submitting to the tariffs!

When you are losing the argument, just scream “Raaaaacism!”

Last spring and summer (2010), when the Tea Party was fight the federal tyranny of Obama, Reid and Pelosi, the left-wing tyrants and their left-wing (so-called “mainstream”) media screamed “Racism!” hoping to derail the freedom-minded. Right up to the eve of the 2010 elections, our leftist opponents continued to scream “Racism!” at the entire limited-government movement, with no grounds whatsoever.

In a way, it’s hard to blame them! For over a hundred years, the American public has been rolling over and playing dead whenever the far left screamed “Raaaaacism!”

We can only hope that we have finally reached the time when playing that shopworn “race card” will no longer work.

Enacting the Articles of Secession

[...]
South Carolina’s secession convention had dragged on for days.

At first, the delegates had been bogged down with trivial matters — what to do with federal employees working in the state, how to handle mail service. They even debated whether to allow reporters into the chamber. Rhett, himself a delegate, had no reason to be overly concerned with the Mercury’s access.

Although some protested, most delegates argued that barring newspapers from the room would look bad. It would appear they were ashamed of what they were doing, and they certainly were not ashamed.

They fully believed they were doing the will of the people.

For proof, they only had to look beyond South Carolina’s border. In the weeks following Lincoln’s election, several other Southern states — Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Georgia among them — had begun planning their own separate conventions.

Representatives of at least two of those states were in the audience to assure the men that, if they seceded, they would not stand alone for long. Some of South Carolina’s delegates would be appointed to coordinate with these states. Already, there was talk of forming a confederacy with them.

At the same time, Rhett had been selected to join a delegation that would travel to Washington and negotiate a settlement of all debts between the state and the U.S. government.

Among other issues, these delegates would deliver terms for the government to turn over all federal forts in Charleston; the United States no longer would be welcome to hold property in South Carolina.

Of course, first there was the actual business of seceding.

The ordinance itself, which the delegation would carry to Washington, was so simple that the men gathered in St. Andrew’s Hall had little need to debate it. It read:

AN ORDINANCE to dissolve the union between the State of South Carolina and other States united with her under the compact entitled ‘The Constitution of the United States of America.’

We, the people of the State of South Carolina, in convention assembled, do declare and ordain, and it is hereby declared and ordained, That the ordinance adopted by us in convention on the twenty-third day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty-eight, whereby the Constitution of the United States of America was ratified, and also all acts and parts of acts of the General Assembly of this State ratifying amendments of the said Constitution, are hereby repealed; and that the union now subsisting between South Carolina and other States, under the name of the ‘United States of America,’ is hereby dissolved.

Done at Charleston the twentieth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty.

Thanking God for What Makes Us Exceptional

Being thankful that “Don’t touch my junk” is today’s version of “Give me liberty or give me death.”

November 25, 2010 By Mary Grabar

This Thanksgiving season I am thankful for small pleasures, like being able to order a Mad Happy Ale at Twain’s in Decatur, Georgia, and listen to jazz, bluegrass, and blues musicians jamming on various days of the week.

I am thankful that we ended Prohibition. I am thankful that free enterprise is working on a small scale at Twain’s, where musicians gather on their own time and play for tips, where waiters work for tips, where the brewers are free to concoct that nectar of the gods, Mad Happy Ale. I am glad that I am able to stop by there on my way home after a hard afternoon of working in that most un-free of American institutions, the university.

I am glad that the government has not yet decided to restrict which musicians can play at Twain’s or how many barrels of Mad Happy Ale Twain’s can brew or how much they can discount it on certain nights. It’s supply and demand, and I know that when I requested Mad Happy Ale last Sunday afternoon and they were out, my vote, along with others, set the master brewer brewing that hoppy ambrosia.

I am thankful that I am not flying this holiday season, and I am thankful that Americans are protesting the government’s unlawful searches. I am thankful that the American spirit still lives. “Don’t touch my junk” is today’s version of “Give me liberty or give me death.” That primitive part of our brains that instinctively reaches for a weapon against the searches of law-abiding Americans has not been bred out of most Americans.

[...]

Alexis de Tocqueville warned about this soft despotism. I am thankful that capitalists set up a foundation to pay my salary so that I can teach Tocqueville, because the university where I teach would surely frown upon my placement of Democracy in America on my syllabus. I am thankful that after showing Ronald Reagan’s 1964 speech, I could show newly elected Congressman Allen West’s video to my class. He is the Patrick Henry of our day.

I am thankful for the Tea Party, that group of Americans not cowed by the long arm of the government, that group that is clinging to their guns and religion, and that helped elect Allen West. There is still much for them to learn, but I am thankful that so many ordinary Americans have volunteered their hours and dollars to preserving freedom. I am thankful that voters were alarmed and awakened this election.

I am thankful that 70 percent of Oklahoma voters voted to prevent sharia law from taking hold. I shudder at what CAIR is thinking of doing next, like taking away my Mad Happy Ale and music because it offends Muslim sensibilities.

Come to think of it, it’s good to go to a place like Twain’s and never see anyone wearing a hijab. It’s a good place to begin a revolution.

[...]

When I see a photo of Janet Napolitano I see Josef Broz Tito. Big Sis ordered her agents to be on the lookout for those like me, who place “Don’t Tread on Me” bumper stickers on their cars.

Many immigrants from Eastern European countries could not understand how Americans could have elected Obama. Well, our historical memory was wiped clean by the educationists, so that we could not see the threat in our midst.

…There is still something in the American character that shudders at the picture of a long line of docile people being herded into a transportation conveyance, while indifferent, ill-educated government employees ogle, prod, and poke their bodies. They understand what such government invasion means psychologically and spiritually, how it demoralizes a brave and free people. We may be boarding 747s instead of cattle cars, but the American spirit rebels. We know there are better ways, like arming ourselves.

There has been a “long train of abuses” over these last two years. There are still some like Congressman-elect Allen West who see these and say, “Pick up your bayonets” and “CHARGE!”

Isn’t it amazing that someone whose forebears were slaves could strike such a chord among free Americans and inspire them to elect him as their representative? It could happen in no other country. We still speak out and speak honestly. We still sit tall in the saddle. We still have our six-guns at our sides. We will not be prodded and herded along. This is American exceptionalism, what makes us different.

I thank God for that.

By CzechRebel

I have had more than enough of the speculation about whether Obama is a Muslim or not. The only way that you could argue that he is not a Muslim would be to make up your own definition of “Muslim” that is meant to exclude him.

Muslims consider the child of a Muslim father to be a Muslim. I am not aware of any exceptions. Many Muslims who are true to the tenets of their faith believe that a Muslim who truly adopts another faith is guilty of a capital offense and should be killed. There has never been any question that Barack Hussein Obama’s father was a Muslim. In addition, Barry’s Muslim stepfather raised him as a Muslim. Given those facts, we can conclude that Muslims believe that Obama is a Muslim. Were that not so, those Muslims who believe in the stated tenets of their faith would be calling for Obama’s execution as an apostate from Islam.

American Muslims support Obama

Do Muslims find Obama offensive? Apparently, not in America! A recent Gallup poll showed that a whopping 78% of the American Muslim population approve of the Obama Administration. All other religious groups showed a lesser level of approval. If Obama were a man who had left the Islamic faith, American Muslims would certainly not approve of him, and some would risk imprisonment to call for his death.

Saudi Muslims certainly accept Obama

…Many thanks to Russkiy for translating this article. The translator has highlighted those portions of the text that he considers notable:

The image which appeared recently of Barack Hussein Obama wearing traditional Islamic clothing, accompanied by a Somali religious leader, has steered emotions and caused a wave of severe disapproval amongst American voters. A similar wave of anger and discontent came from Obama supporters, who accused his opponent Hillary Clinton of trying to tarnish his reputation by means of leaking this image to the public. Obama, in response to the rumour of his being a closet Muslim, has made an official statement, denying the rumours suggesting he a Muslim and stated that he has in fact been a devout Christian for more than twenty years, and that he regularly attends church services.

The sad part in all this is the fact that if he is indeed a Muslim, he has to resort to taqiyya and concealment in order to keep his chances of becoming president alive. In the light of September 11 events, and following the barrage of images, in which firebrand Islamic clerics incite terrorism, while at the same time no religious authority to this day has come out to condemn any of the major terrorist attacks and refute religious justifications terrorists rely upon in order to recruit followers, Islam has become associated with terrorism. The followers of Islam are now seen as crazy lunatics full of hate, intent on fighting the entire world, while at the same time being unable to manage their own affairs and reconcile themselves with the modernity. All this has blackened the face of Islam to such an extent that it became a liability and a sure thing to destroy campaign chances of the hopeful presidential nominee.

These stupid terrorist fools do not realise and are incapable of appreciating such a rare and precious opportunity for a Muslim to occupy the Oval Office. By their actions they probably have ruined chances of this Muslim immigrant from becoming president of the United States.

Obviously, Obama did make it into the White House, depite the misgivings expressed in the above article, which came out before the 2008 US elections. I present it here as evidence that the Muslims in Saudi Arabia take it for granted that Obama is one of them.

Could Obama be a secret apostate from Islam?

So, there is no question that Obama is considered a Muslim in the Muslim community. But could he be a secret apostate, a man who has left the Islamic faith, though able to fool nearly all Muslims on this planet that he had not? Well, if that were so, he would be the opposite of Ronald Reagan in one more way. (Obama has already made a recession into a depression by increasing taxes and spending, in contrast to Reagan, who brought the country out of a recession by cutting taxes and spending.) If Obama is not a Muslim, then he is a great actor and will have a career waiting for him as a thespian when he leaves office. In fact, he would be such a good actor that all the films featuring actor Ronald Reagan would pale by comparison.

Look at the evidence

Obama’s behavior has been such that implies he is a Muslim, for example: his refusal to speak in the presence of a cross; his amusement at the ridicule of Jews’ and Christians’ holy book; his refusal to bring his wife to Islamic-dominated countries; his word choices such as “Islamic Republic of Iran” rather than “Iran” and “holy Koran” rather than “Koran”; he includes himself when speaking of the Muslim community; along with other little reminders that he wholeheartedly supports Islam. There were no Christmas presents for Malia and Sasha Obama, and the White House nativity scene almost got the boot. (See More Evidence that Obama is a Muslim and Even More Evidence that Obama is a Muslim.)

Other than having attended Jeremiah Wright’s Caucasian-hating ‘church,’ Obama has shown no signs of being anything other than a Muslim.

Obama is first in line to support the Ground Zero Mega Mosque, situated in a location to remind us of the Islamic 9-11 victory. Yet, I have not heard a word out of Obama in support of rebuilding St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, which was destroyed during the 9-11 attack.

Some have said that Obama’s words and actions simply show that he is a socialist, a “progressive,” rather than a Muslim. The answer to that is simple: being a socialist, or even accepting support from outright communists, is not inconsistent with being a Muslim. (See The Communist Roots of Palestinian Terror.)

The left-wing, pro-Muslim, media (Fox included) are asking, “How is it possible that one in five Americans believe Obama is a Muslim?”

My question is: Can four out of five Americans actually doubt that Barack Hussein Obama, f/k/a Barry Soetero, is a Muslim?

Senator John McCain is in a fight for his political career and it is extremely important that the Serbian people remember the incredible harm that Senator McCain inflicted on the Christian Serbs in Kosovo. It’s now Payback Time!

Let us review:

In 2000, Justin Raimondo (Antiwar.com) exposed Senator McCain’s extreme position in his commentary entitled, “McCain and the KLA Connection.” Raimondo writes, “Naturally, the American media, which made itself into the willing instrument of the War Party during the Kosovo conflict, is reluctant to uncover the fact of McCain’s connection to Albanian extremists.”

In a 2008 report, Fred Quigley writes of McCain’s support of Izetbegovic’s harbouring bin Laden in Bosnia: “McCain and Biden have a clear record of supporting Nazis in the past 15 years and there is every indication that Obama with his links to Brzezinski would be very similar in approach.” McCain was involved up to his eyeballs as was Biden in the courting of Bin Laden.

In the 2008 commentary published in Tucson Citizen of 1992, Major Richard Felman writes, “John McCain Snubs American WWII Vet saved by Draza Mihailovich and his Serbs, it took me almost seven years to get an appointment with him. While expressing sympathy for our effort, McCain told me he could do nothing. Instead of calling for the investigation I requested of our serious charges – withholding the truth from members of Congress and using taxpayer funds to disseminate communist propaganda are federal offenses – he told me the only way to get at the truth would be for me to write the 435 members of the house of Representatives and get a majority of them to support our effort. I thought the reason the people of Arizona elected politicians was to represent them in Washington.”

In 2008, Joseph McMillan published his commentary in the Intellectual Conservative, asking, “Is there Anything McCain Could Do to Persuade Me to Support Him? Yes, One Thing: Kosovo!!!!” McMillan continues, “Kosovo’s recognition by the United States and other European allies like Britain, Germany and France has handed to Islam a victory it has been denied for the last millennium – an Islamic foothold in Europe. Anyone who has read my articles on John McCain will know that I have an intense dislike of the man. So what could he do to change my view of him, and get my support? He could reverse the Bush Administration’s recognition of Kosovo. Should he do that, I would certainly take another look at him, and even regard him as a man with some insight into what we are really facing from the Islamic threat.”

I have merely touched the tip of the iceberg regarding Senator McCain’s unexplained animosity towards the Serbian people. It is NOW or NEVER!!!!!

I strongly urge you to support J.D.Hayworth and rid the Serbian people of Senator John McCain once and for all! Here is your chance to say, “It’s payback time for McCain’s support of the Kosovo Liberation Army terrorists. You can contact J.D. Hayworth at info@jdforsenate.com or (602) 357-0000.

Yes, we’re still around…

As I have mentioned elsewhere, we unfortunately no longer have the time, energy, or resources to devote to blogging that we once had in the past. Political blogging takes a heavy, and often a truly staggering, personal and professional toll on anybody who does it. Moreover, I have had some severe health issues and have had to cut back on certain activities, so it is a matter of priorities. Thus, in recent months, we have been blogging on a very infrequent basis.

When the 2008 US presidential election came down to Hillary, McCain, and Obama, followed by the worldwide economic collapse, it became clear to us that there was not much more that we could contribute by blogging at the same rate as we had previously been doing. Fortunately, we had reached the point where all of the points that we have been trying to make are also being made by many other bloggers, and even by a few conservative journalists and other public figures. We do not aspire to be acknowledged as the leaders of any particular movement.

Therefore, at this point, we have decided to post an article only when we have something to say that nobody else is already saying.

We do welcome your comments and feedback.

…the sun is about to set.

As you already know, I had little to say about the 2008 US presidential election because, then as now, I regarded both of the candidates, and all their pomps and all their works, as beneath comment.

Even before the election, it was obvious to me that the winning candidate would someday deeply regret having run for that office. Let me go on record that I stand by that prediction.

It has often been claimed that no one can win a thermonuclear war. Be that as it may, there is no question that it is easy enough to lose one! In similar fashion, becoming president of the US at this time is just as clearly a no-win scenario for the perpetrator and all his retinue.

Despite all the empty promises from both sides, there is simply nothing that any US president could do at this point to effect a recovery. A recovery would have to happen on its own, and every day that goes by, it seems that we have less and less to build on, in terms of civil and industrial infrastructure, a functioning civil society, and an informed citizenry.

The mass media and what we call our educational system seem to be doing everything they can to keep the citizenry from figuring out what their supposed betters are about. Oh, and by the way, everything I have just said about the plight of the US goes double for the EU.

The scope of the problem

See for yourself what already happened to a part of the US that lost its productive capacity:

detroitfunk.com

detroitblog

The Fabulous Ruins of Detroit

The Motor(less) City

With trees growing up through abandoned buildings, large parts of Detroit have already come to resemble scenes from the grim speculative documentary Life After People.

By now, the US economic decline has spread far beyond Detroit and the Rust Belt.

Think about it: When was the last time you saw the label “Made in USA” on any product, good or bad?

And no, it is not possible to sustain a “service economy” without a viable manufacturing infrastructure. Not that there is a service economy to sustain – the real estate bubble has already burst, the remains of our financial sector are being artificially propped up with money that we do not have and cannot earn, and much of our service sector employment has already been outsourced! It should surprise no one that the unemployment picture is considerably worse than the official figures would lead us to believe (see The really, really bad news about the unemployment rate). Newspapers throughout the US report that state and local tax revenues are shrinking due to declining income and property values.

What is left?

I recently heard yet another self-styled pundit of the US employment scene recommending three areas where there still seem to be some jobs for Americans. The only available jobs are in health care, education, and government work – because they cannot be outsourced.

Wow.

Will someone please explain to me who is going to pay for this health care, education, and government work? Does anyone care to predict what will happen after we go into debt to educate the next generation, knowing that there will be no jobs for them after they finish school?

Where do we go from here?

Good question.

And yes, I do have an answer! My point in posting this is that we need to understand exactly what our problems are, and the true extent of our difficulties, before we can even begin to address them.

What’s the next step? We need to stop wasting tax dollars on bailing out Wall Street. Instead, we need to bring our industrial base back to the US. We need to repeal the tax laws and ever-proliferating regulations that have been strangling US businesses or driving them overseas. We need to make it much simpler and more cost-effective for businesses, especially smaller businesses, to provide jobs for US citizens. That’s the only government “stimulus package” that will work.

No, it is not all under our control. But we can keep the faith and do our best to help each other. As Bishop Antoun of the Antiochian Orthodox Church recently told us, “The Lord will provide.”
